Jack Clarke

Has he scored a goal or registered an assist yet?

He was brilliant for us in the Championship but in the one game he played against Premier League opposition last season (Newcastle ironically) he was utterly anonymous against an out of sorts Trippier, who had him in his back pocket for the whole game. Maybe he’s just not good enough for the top flight.
It wasn't just Trippier on his own. We had no right side so they just came across.

He was isolated and wasn't really just one on one v Trippier, also he scored in both games against Fulham the season before.

Trippier was at the time, a top class full back, We were demoralised playing under a shite Michael Beale and his hopeless tactics.

It's not a fair barometer for judging Clarke as a PL footballer, a complete mismatch of a stuttering Championship side against a team in a derby who had their full strength team out.

Bit arrogant that . They have been way more successful than us in my life time and the team they had in the eighties was outstanding. We haven't had a team anywhere close to that level since before most on here was born.

Bloody hell so have Oxford United. We’re no benchmark for success. It’s not just that though tbh it’s the fact they were only ever heading one way which is back down. Brentford are a nothing club but I’d understand a move like that as they’re a successful PL team doing very well.

That's a fair point. In my lifetime we have a FA Cup each but that team of there's that competed in UEFA cup and finished runners up to Villa? was more successful than our SKP/Quinn team which is probably the closest we came to breaking the top 6.

We have young players who are improving with every game, and are only a powerful no9 away from rinsing this division.

I suddenly get the impression we knew what we were doing with Clarke all along as we had Watson coming through.
Of course we did

Been saying for 2 years he will be a faster, stronger more 2 footed player with a higher ceiling

Jack was excellent for us though and I wish him the best
Clarke must've known which way Ipswich play.......he wanted to leave for more money
It was maybe the only PL option he had, you can’t blame the lad - at his age he had to give it a go and do well fit his family

Oxford have one cup victory , Ipswich were winning European cups and challenged for the league .
Did Brentford put a bid in ? Maybe Ipswich were the only club who took a risk on Clarke and to be honest , most people thought Ipswich would have done better than they have as they were spending money and have a well thought of coach .

He's got more money obviously. But football wise the move has so far been unsuccessful.
Agreed. He'll be a Championship player again by May...

It's possible a promoted side like Sheff Utd or Leeds might try and take him, but he'll end up in the same boat, fighting relegation.

Ipswich have built a team that will storm the championship next season.
It will depend on who they sell and how they're replaced. Delap will be back to man city you'd think - they have a £20m buy back clause which i'd be amazed if they didn't trigger. They could probably treble that by immediately selling him.
I could see someone signing Leif Davis as well

I'm surprised at how little we're missing him. Mundle is as good and I think by the end of the season Tommy Watson will be streets ahead of the pair of them.

That’s what Luton thought.
Really? Luton didn't spend anything like what Ipswich have.

Ipswich have basically used their prem money to buy last year's Championship all-stars!

Doesn't look like it will keep them in the Prem, but I certainly wouldn't look forward to playing against a team including Clark, Szmodics etc in the Championship.
