Jack Clarke

It's people playing real life Football Manager and getting carried away. We can't sign Clarke and a striker on loan without then leaving one of our loan players out of the squad. I think everyone knows of the need for a striker.

Just stick with Mundle. He looked a top Championship winger before his injury and fits in so well with how we play and the other players we have. Him and Watson are great left wing options.

And we would be nowhere as a good a team as we are today, with Jack in the team we only had one tactic, give him the ball teams had us sussed second half of the season.

That's because we had no striker, he was the only one capable of scoring goals and winning us games man ffs!

I loved Clarke and in many ways I’d welcome him back but it’s not going to happen.
Firstly I doubt he or Ipswich would do the deal, he’s starting to look more comfortable and they need all the options they can have.
Secondly it’s a loan. We have one more loan slot. Our existing loans are all next level ambitious so I expect a really good centre forward or right side winger if we use that loan.
Finally we don’t really need him. When Mundle and Watson are back that amongst the best left wing options in the league. In the meantime Aouchiche’s performances have been excellent and arguably we could still deploy Mayenda, Rigg or even Le Fee there.

"When they are back" is the problem though. They're both behind schedule already and if we truly are going all-in, can we afford to wait and take a risk on their return?

Massive investment needed to improve in that area and Aouchiche has done very well in that position as has Mayenda in fairness.

I loved Jack Clarke and was gutted when we sold him. That said we literally haven’t missed him at all. Now the dust has settled and my rose tinted glasses are off I don’t think he’s as good as what I thought he was. I think he is going to fall into the too good for championship not good enough for the Prem category. I d love him to prove me wrong as the lad conducted himself properly and gave his all despite his agent whoring him out every time he opened his trap. Unfortunately he’s going to need a run of games to do that not just 15 minutes here and 5 minutes there. At the moment it’s been a better deal for us than the lad himself.

I agree with all of that. Wouldn’t take him back though.
On a game stand point for sure but financially I reckon he has set himself up with this move which isn’t a bad thing for the lad. As for his abilities I don’t think he is as bad as some seem to now think he is, but instead I have the view that he isn’t playing in the right set up to utilise his obvious strengths. That is the odd part to me as to why by a specific type of player who revels in a certain style of playing and then give him very few minütes in the side that don’t play the way that suits him, bizarre.

To be fair that was a canny while ago, to be honest if that's the only example you can think of you're probably proving his point.

How about his last home game against sheff wed when he set up a goal cutting it back with his left foot mate, is that too long ago, I mean other than sign for us again and do it I’m not sure how recent he was meant to do it?

Roberts is a RW, Mundle and Watson when fit can all play RW

I’ve seen little evidence Watson can successfully in this league and zero evidence Mundle can.

It’s way too lazy to just make the presumption he can because he is fast and right footed.

I'm not saying he didn't do it, I was just pointing out it would be better to use more/different examples of one from 3 seasons ago

I think a lot of fans have an interest in Jack Clarke for the fact that he was an absolutely brilliant player for us and are intrigued to see how the lad is getting on. I think it’s also fair to say that with his time at Sunderland he performed week after week for us and his professionalism here was perfect. I like the lad and rate him regardless of how it is going at Ipswich but I also have the opinion move wasn’t the best one for him, but I think Ipswich were the only top tier side in for him. I think he is wasting away at Ipswich and that a loan move is far better for him than getting 10 minutes here and there or as recently as last week not even getting on the pitch. That loan move shouldn’t be he as we have more than enough in that position once the lads Mundle and Watson are back and I also believe for the player himself it would be like returning with his tail between his legs so from me it’s a no.
