Jack Clarke

Clarke has already banked at least £3M in his career so far after his 'big' move to Spurs.

But £400K a year on top isn't life changing money 😂

On what planet do you reside?
You've plucked the £3m from nowhere, unless you have the bank statements to prove it.

£400k per year isn't life changing money when the opportunity to earn treble (if not more) than that is on the table. Particularly in a short career, even more so if said career is ended earlier. He's been on £400k per year (according to you), for 2 years. £800k in total, tax, national insurance, living costs, car, home/rent. Should he break down tomorrow and not play footy again, that isn't life changing money. Should he have a 15 year career at that level, it's good money, of course it is, but life changing money it is not. Ipswich have offered that.

If somebody handed me £800k now and said that's all I'm getting for the rest of my life, I wouldn't be able to spread that out over a life time.

So you couldn't buy a couple of houses and double your money?

It's hardly rocket science, Clarke moves for £10M gets £25K a week for 3 years. He gets a 10% signing on fee.

Mayenda was tremendous on Saturday. Jack Clarke was very good for us but he had his limitations. Tommy Watson is very similar to Clarke and I think he will develop along the same lines as Clarke. His performances at U21 level have been excellent. Mundle is a stronger player than Clarke though somewhat erratic. I'm sure he will get better. Perhaps I should have said that I see no point bringing Clarke back with those three available. I'm not convinced he'd be a shoe in.
agreed. I would LOVE to see watson playing as number 10. He's so quick and can use both feet.

It's a link that's going to come up more if he continues to struggle there and we sustain our position in play-offs. He's an excellent player at this level, but him leaving has paved the way for two very bright prospects in Mundle/Watson. We should be thinking about how we can use those two in the same team when they're both fit, rather than looking to throw another left winger in there which would possibly just stagnate their developments.

Side note: reading some of the Ipswich fans comments on Clarke. I don't like seeing him get that amount of stick, when he's been in/out of a struggling side, hasn't really had a fair crack at it at all and they aren't even using him right as they've stuck him more centrally. But some of their fans seem to be writing him off, which I don't think is fair. Having said that plenty of our fans were writing Watson off a week ago, so maybe that's just football fans for ya

Well no, if I had £800k to last me a lifetime, my first purchase wouldn't be to risk c.25% of it.......

That's not how it works though regarding a signing on fee. And it's also not what you claimed. You claimed he'd made life changing money already. He made the decision that 99% of footballers would make, swap Championship football for Premier League football and make a hell of a lot more in the process.

Ha ha.

There is no risk in property. You're clueless thanks for confirming.

How much money do you think a premier league footballer banks in 3 years? It's 100% life changing money when you've previously been a youth team player.

Getting divorced was life changing for the old FY fund like, but I got a premier league move and the fund is mair than back.
Didn't have an agent to pay either.
Jacksy made the right move as far as I'm concerned same as Rossco, he was never going to make good money with us.

40k a year means you can fly first class for your fortnight away. £400k lets you charter a private jet. 4 million a year and you can buy a plane. Having one life changing pay rise doesn't mean you'll never have another. If Clarke goes on to prove himself - it's still early days - his next move would be the difference between his kids never having to work and him founding a dynasty.

So you buy a cheap property and insure it. Perhaps rent it out. Please explain how you would ever lose in say 10 years?
No insults on this message, Mr. Staff Member....? There are a multitude of ways you can lose money on property, even a "cheap" one, maybe even more so a "cheap" one, it's clearly not risk free which most people are able to see. Plenty of money to be made in property, but it's not a guarantee.

Consult Tommy before buying cheap property like.

What’s the point of buying a player like Clarke to completely change where he plays and stop him doing what he’s good at? I don’t believe they had a long term interest in him I think they’ve just splashed money where they could. Totally killed his momentum in his career so far this move.
He didnt have to join them

This is a flawed argument.

For the benefit of the clubs and the players themselves they are insured to the hilt to ensure they are covered should the worse happen.

The club would be paid a large part of their transfer fee and the player a large part of his future earnings should he be injured to the extent that his career was over.
Premiums and medical advances make this not financially worth it for a lot of clubs.
We’re all aware you’ve long ago nailed your colours to the JC fucked up mast and won’t be persuaded that you can’t possibly see the world through the eyes of a professional footballer so I’ll leave this thread and all it’s posters to it.

He's rich but I would imagine unhappy with his recent football career.

There's nothing else to say.

Feel he's been badly advised through his career, he's 24 now and really only had 2 very good seasons and that was with us.

However it's a huge jump up, Summerville is also struggling despite being the best player in the championship last season.

That’s Ipswich fans who mainly watch it on the telly m8, they comment in the match thread, and just like this place don’t necessarily represent the Ipswich support, they’re just vocal on a message board. They, like us, have to remember they’re nowhere near being an established premier league club, and Clarke is definitely a next level signing for them. I don’t think anybody ever thought he was a doku or a grealish but he’s definitely better than whoever they had there last year.
This is a very valid point. Or actually a few valid points.
But McKenna is certainly not using him enough to show that he thinks he is worth starting.
Clarke must be frustrated surely.
3x wages
Play in best league in the world
He hardly plays though.
At the moment he is a fringe player in a struggling side.
Great money. Shit experience.
