I’m all for a bit of silliness in the transfer window but if this isn’t true it’s playing with people’s emotions. My 8 year old son will ball his eyes out if Clarke goes and my 4 year old thinks his favourite footballer is “Clarketearyouapart”, so I might bloody cry.

Mate it's football. Players come and go, and your 8 year old is going to learn that I'm afraid. There's nowt anyone on here is going to be able to do to change that.

Nah it doesn't. It would however suggest both clubs think it's likely a fee will will eventually be agreed. Similar when clubs give permission for players to discuss personal terms before a final fee has been agreed
