Jack Clarke

I think at this point you just prepare for the worst and whatever happens happens.

Any hope of achieving something this season ends if Clarke goes this late.

£15m plus add ons, for someone with 2 years left on their contract is a good offer when you compare it to the £25m Leeds got for Summerville who is better and younger.

Deal needs to be done sooner rather than later to allow the funds to be reinvested in the squad before the deadline...that's assuming any funds are available to be reinvested.
Ipswich aren’t going to shag you mate

Rubbish, should be asking 40 million minimum

I have a bad feeling that if this offer is genuine and upfront cash (rather than paying in instalments like most transfers now are), £15m might not be that wide of the mark to what we might be willing to consider.

The lack of signings for money, dithering over the Mendy fee etc, suggests we aren't exactly flush at the moment.

Big money departure will be Ekwah most likely imo

Agree unfortunately. Club will be desperate to get a good price and move him on if they're nowhere near a new contract.

personally I think he will stay and consider the clubs position in January

players must get a feel of things around the club, the positivity or negativity around the squad, it will give them an idea of how things are likely to go. thats when they start getting itchy feet as they can see first hand which way things are going....
That’s what I would do if I was him and equally important if I was the club

Cash upfront doesn't make or break deals.

If we say got £5M upfront for Clarke and the rest over 4 years then we buy a player for £3M upfront and the rest over 4 years.

For £15m we might as well have 2 seasons trying for promotion then let him walk for free instead of accepting that now and hoping any replacement is near his level. Even if we wait till January and are nowhere near promotion we could still get close to £15m.

Coincidence we are closing in on signing 2 players when Clarke is rumoured to be in “advanced talks” with Ipswich, love him to stay but Iv accepted he’s going to be away

Of course it does if you need the money. Whilst i'm speculating here, that could be why the Mendy deal has stalled. We only have the means to pay x up front, and the rest in instalments; they want the lot up front.

I'd guess our transfer strategy this summer has been based on selling an asset, so you'd think something is going to have to give at some point.

Still, i think £15m is too low. But if that is a genuine opening bid, they'll probably be willing to go higher.

Be gutted if he goes but if does I wish him well , he’s always put in a shift and never moaned , he’s not from the area , so long as every penny goes to the manager , shit happens . Signing a very good striker may have helped persuade him we are serious for promotion
