Jack Clarke

Wonder if Clarke goes we might go 2 up top

We'd have to bring in another forward, maybe go back in for Mendy

Unlikely. The current system suits players like Jobe as well, he's no 10.

I don't see the point in a move to Ipswich. He moves there, spends the season defending his own box without the ball, most likely comes back down and ends up back in the same situation next summer. If it's an established side or a side then fair enough, but Ipswich would be a poor move imo.

I get the doubling wages argument, but he can double his wages next summer when a more established prem team comes knocking if we don't go up.

Finally, Liam Delap cost Ipswich £15 million, thats the price of an average player now. I'd be disappointed if we were to let him go for less than £30 million including add ons. To start a bit at £15 million is insulting in todays market imo.
I guess an argument could be that he's in the shop window for a bigger club. Even in teams that go down a player with potential will shine.

Ipswich looked decent against a top 4 side at the weekend, they aren't guaranteed to go down.

Doubled wages, who's to say he doesn't get a massive injury before Christmas and ends up on the scrap heap for 6-12 months missing his opportunity.

Long way away Ipswich mind.

Mundle, come on down 😎

Should be fine people have already convinced themselves mundle is class so Clarke won’t be that much of a miss

I’ve read my post back, and I can’t see a single reference to anyone signing a contract for an indefinite length of time?

As I said, nicely slipped in. They signed to stay here for a definite period of time. To say they won't stay here indefinitely completely ignores the reality of them signing and the manner it benefits the club.

That’s one viewpoint.

It is, however, diametrically opposed to your “unless he fancies the move” attitude towards Clarke’s contract term.

Make your mind up.

You could only play that formation against a few teams in this division.

No chance

I don’t think anyone would be surprised if Clarke does go as he is definitely ready for the premier league. We have the model in place with a saleable player with value going as happened with Stewart and it will happen again and again, until we get promoted. As of this point you have to ask the question at what cost do we put on a player in place of promotion. £300 million plus a 99.9% sell on fee and it’s a deal.

Aye, our only real data point is Ross and we had Southamptons pants down
We got a good price but that data point also proved the club had zero plan in place, had no idea how to replace him and the players they bought to improve us with the money had no impact.

We dropped 10 places in the league.

It’s as if not having a proper head coach in place had zero effect.
