If Clarke was the difference between relegation or staying in the league, then yes, it's a good decision to hold and let him go on a free later.

I thought Rusyn was signed as his replacement. I'm not convinced either him or Mundle can step up to Clarke level. It would be a massive shame to lose him but we surely only sell for top dollar. Let's hope he stays

If Clarke did leave for the likes of Leeds then I'd be really disappointed in him as his motivation could only be money .
Apart from cash there is nothing Leeds have that Sunderland couldnt offer
Including size of club, and potential promotion.
 
I could just about handle it if he went to a PL club for 25m but for him to go to another championship club would be a huge kick in the balls. We should be able to offer him a similar contract to what Leeds can so Harte will be the only one pushing for the move so he can get his big pay day.

Got a really bad feeling that the club will be shit scared of him getting into the last 18 months of his deal and losing £10m on his value in future windows.
