Jack Clarke

I think he won’t get near the top because he struggles with the ball when under real pressure . Given time he’s a very good player . Saturday was an anomaly though. He was poor and he’s miles better than that
Absolutely bang on mate. That's how i see it aswel.
This must have been before my time 😂😂😂
..some night that was on here

Championship standard full-back’s for you. I think Clarke would face a much sterner test from PL full backs, that’s not to say he wouldn’t still have success though!
My mind always goes back to the cup game against the mags.

Only one game obviously, but Trippier was very comfortable against Clarke that day, and Trippier was in iffy form going into it.

My grey matter is in overdrive here…

If Skunk Hater broke the news on Bent’s departure 14 years ago and still gets good info now, who the fuck is his source?! Who’s been at the club that long?

Maybe there’s 2 sources? It’s like a good old fashioned whodunnit this!
I’m trying to work out who would have intimate knowledge of Darren Bent’s transfer dealings and Jack Clarke’s contact situation 14 years down the line and my only conclusion is Steve Bruce

Let your mind wander to the two Fulham games instead

I think our whole set up that day was wrong in fairness and Clarke didn’t get that many chances to actually put Tripowa on the back foot in his own box.

But you’re correct, the unfaithful fullback dealt with Clarke with ease.

Why would Steve Bruce have intimate knowledge of Clarke’s contract situation?😂

I don’t think we have any fitness coaches or anything who were around at the time.

I can imagine that the sporting director doesn’t speak to anyone other than the most senior coaches (head coach & Dodds) about these things for exactly that reason.

Whilst the youth coaches are a vital part in the clubs development system, there’s not much reason for an u15’s coach to know about a star player’s contract negotiations.

Unless Methven and Donald are in charge, in which case they’d be whatsapp’ing the canteen staff.
True, but the point I'm making is you'll be surprised how many people, from academy coaches, to tea ladies, security guards, office staff, physios, education staff etc etc that will have been there and aware talks were ongoing without actually knowing the detail or outcome of the talks.

Very easy for people in this situation to claim ITK, when infact they are putting 2 and 2 together and know little more than the rest of us.

Hopefully on this occasion it is correct

Assuming it’s the same source back then as it is now, it’s probably someone working in an admin capacity.

Someone has to draw up the contract, communicate changes to payroll, and a million other little things to get a deal done. Those people probably stay in a job longer term than players/coaches etc.

Not having a go at him, just mentioning that premier league full backs will make it a lot more difficult for him to cut inside and get the shots away.
The key to stopping Clarke is whoever is playing right sided centre mid to stop that space for him to cut in. Blows my mind when teams leave the fullback one on one with clarke with acres of space for him to cut into! Absolute madness.

(which is why having a competent CF who can stretch teams and create more space for clarke is vital but that's another thread :lol:)

I remember against Stoke at home where they left Gooch on his own against Clarke for the full 90.

Gooch had an absolute mare.

They will but if we have better players to pull people away it makes it easier for Clarke to shine.

On Saturday Jobe committed 3 men to him on the edge of the box BEFORE passing to Clarke. Clever play that gave Clarke time and space. Only one man went to close, the other halfy half and Clarke did what he does best.
