Jack Clarke

I am afraid I have very little faith that KLD and his stooge, Speakman will ever spend what is required to get promoted.

They seem very happy to continue being puppet masters with young players, just as an experiment. As if to show all other football club owners they are right. Sunderland is a plaything for KLD, something he can indulge himself with
Absolutely. Now let me adjust my tin foil helmet. Nurse!!!

I personally think Rutter has a much higher ceiling that Clarke and that's why he has a higher value. Clarke can be a bit one-dimensional running at defenders and cutting inside (even though he is admittedly very, very good at it), while Rutter operates centrally and is a more versatile footballer. Plus he dropped in as a 10 last year and picked up 16 assists in a team that had Piroe, Summerville, Gnonto, and Bamford. He didn't need to score goals because we was creating them for others. Are you saying Jack would have scored 15 last season if in the Leeds squad? 25m to 30m is a fair value in my mind.

If we sold Clarke for £25m by inference we are accepting that Rutter is 60% a better player than he is. Yes Clarke might have scored that amount of goals for Leeds, don’t really know, however a benchmark has been set and we shouldn’t cave in.

I mean, quite the narrative you’re peddling but forgetting players such as Ballard, Rigg and Jobe committed to the cause.
My question is, how much does Harte want us to pay, is it £50,000 a week ? Is it £30,000 a week? This is real life not your spawn save on on footy manager.

We’re forgetting he may not want to go there…player says no thanks then that’s that. Fee is irrelevant.
Why would he turn down Premier League football and doubling his wages?

We are looking at it with red and white tinted glasses on but if someone offered to double your wages at work and move you to a company at a higher level, what would you do?

Looks like he is definitely away. Just a shame we were only planning to spend money if one of the top boys were going to be sold. I have no doubt that if Jack stayed and signed a new contract, there is no way we would spend any significant money on incomings.
Yes the way it’s played is that fans have caught wind of Isidor and maybe Simic and got excited.

Then comes the dawning realisation that there’s only one way we’ll ever be paying for them…

Exactly
And except for giving us a team who we really like, full of quality players, all who will improve , and all you can see playing in the prem , spending little and being sustainable, with the squad value going from more or less zero to well over 100 million in less than three years , and improving the stadium , the pitch and sound system and club shop - what else have they really done for us?

Aye but they'll be playing in the Prem with other teams.

How could you possibly know it rarely happens. The deal will just fall through, which happens a lot. It woukd be disrespectful to the offering club to make it known the player refused tge transfer.
Why would he turn it down? Makes no sense for him

I don’t understand the panic he has two years left on his contract and is apparently happy at club so we don’t have to sell. Harte has his own interest at heart not Clarke’s he’s looking for big signing on fee. Unless someone comes in with a bid in excess of £30 million upfront I would tell them to get lost. If the lad was pushing for a move the scenario would be different but it would take a massive offer for me to sell.

£15m upfront. £5m potentially added in. Potentially being the key word. To Ipswich? Sickening
Has anyone heard anything about Southampton also bidding ?
Someone said they are keen as well ( or is that old news ?)

My feelings exactly

I mean it’s 15m quid but it’s to Ipswich. Imagine going to that backwatta to come back down again in a year 😂 plus 15m quid is fuck all. 15m. Jesus. In the PL you can’t even buy a youth teamer for that. Fantastic value for a PL club
