Jack Clarke

if Jack Grealish is anyway near an estimated transfer value 60 euros (approx £50)

then Jack Clark must be closer to £ 30 million.

Arguably its a random comparison but I would rather have Jack Clark as a 23 year old in my Team than Jack Grealish 28 years olds

Anything other than us making 20m after Spurs take their cut should be rejected in my opinion.

I think I'd still feel shortchanged if they offer 25m and we end up with 18.75m.

If they go to 30m and we bank 22.5m I think he'll be off.

If he is sold I hope it's transparent and we can see exactly what the club feels he is worth. None of this undisclosed fee bollocks.

its tough isnt it, watching them week in week out and youre just knowing that when they start to progress were going to see some great football, but after 6 to 12months theyll inevitably move on. its so bitter sweet

that said, look back to 3 or 4 years ago and we could only dream of this situation. a lot of our 11 would attract healthy bids. Having a squad with such value, after having a squad of no value just a short while ago
Aye frustrating but that’s football nowadays only an elite few teams can categorically state they aren’t in the same position.

Apart from those few elite teams every player has his price…higher ranked PLteams can take lower ranked PL teams players, lower ranked PL teams can take championship players etc etc etc

It’s shite but that’s how football is……to make the most of it you need a shit hot recruitment team, great coaches and demonstrate to players they have a platform to show how good they are, know when to sell at the maximum price and reinvest it well.

The past history of this club is that something good happens like a good start and this is immediately counterbalanced by a swift kick in the balls to the supporters.
So I expect this to happen.
You're right, typically we'd bring in two strikers, we're all up for it then lose Clarke and not have time to replace him.

But, I'm remaining optimistic.

We'll sign two strikers, Clarke will stay, we'll beat Burnley on Saturday.

Did that rhyme? I think it did, just. Mint, up we go.

They've sold players for about £140m and spent about £15m and left the squad hideously short...how is that showing ambition? If we did similar I doubt you'd be saying the same.
Their fans like us expect their clubs to be ambitions .... so there will be pressure on the management [ like here] to get players in ... so they'll be looking at the likes of Clarke having sold players to PL clubs - they'll want similar.
... yes they are hideously short of players.. so they are not going to let that situation stay like that ... they we buy more.

So they will sound Sunderland out .... agent Harte knows all of this hence the links between the club be they real or only on social media and he [Harte] will make the most of the situation for this player and himself.

He’s going to go isn’t he? Early days but winning the first two games of the season, new head coach having us playing good football the feel good factor was back. Would be typical as a Sunderland fan to have to suffer our best player leaving.

He's already been one of the best players in the league in the last couple of years. This next 2 years that he's under contract with us he'll be moving towards his prime so it's reasonable to suggest he'll improve and if he was to stay, be THE best player in the league.

It's fair to say that having the best player in the league enhances a clubs chance of promotion, and all the riches that come along with it.

Therefore if we lose a player of this standard, we need to be heavily compensated. 15m is a joke.

Mate of mine knows Ian Harte well

He says Ipswich had a medical booked for JC last night but he decided he didn’t want to go, he says there is a good chance he will sign a new contract with us
if he does, and we sign 1 or 2 of the rumoured strikers, it will be a cracking transfer window for us mind. Yeah we will still have weaknesses, but not many clubs can address every weakness in 1 window
