Jack Clarke

the thing a lot of people seem to be forgetting here is the wages point

Ipswich aren't the most exciting destination but they are probably going to pay double what we can/would over 4 years. That's a lot of money
Probably treble what we could pay, some on here are mad to think he should turn it down.

Whilst I'd be gutted if we lost Clarke, it would be even worse if he went to another club in the Championship, especially Leeds.
Agreed
..... but Leeds only have a first team squad of 19 players, even Farke has gone on record this week as saying "We would need cover at full-back, in midfield and two offensive positions. Cannot guarantee we will get all of these, but four is roughly what I would like to see."

As they have lost from last season, I believe.... Gray, Summerville, Kamara, Cresswell, Shackleton, Drameh, Koch, Ayling, Roca, Llorente, Rutter as well as Poveda in recent weeks okay not all first choices some already on loan.. but he needs players and from their sales, they'll have some cash to splash.

So they are bound to be linked with replacements, small squad, a gruelling Championship season ahead - a well supported team with ambition and some moneys banked from sales.

Yes for him it’s good but clubs don’t sell players because the player will make more money elsewhere

Already played 2 games more for the lads then most fans expected, hope he plays a fair few more after August but he either goes for big money now or Jan or we lose 10m in value should he not sign a new contract and we fail to get promoted

They must have recouped well over £100m in transfer fees but we don't know their financial predicament, I'll bet their wages last season were ridiculously high. They'll have been betting on promotion and had to scale back after failing to achieve it.

I would take that more than a low ball offer now.

The past history of this club is that something good happens like a good start and this is immediately counterbalanced by a swift kick in the balls to the supporters.
So I expect this to happen.

Yes can’t have anything nice for too long without being slyed with a volley in the conkers IIRC.

Surely he doesn’t go to Ipswich for £15m though - there’ll be better opportunities for him if he stays here. And our owners despite their issues have been very good with contracts and outgoing players so far.

Stuart Watson never reports BS. He’ll have his information well checked before posting. Take anything he reports as fact.

I think we are already at the stage of each side trying to make it look like they've won the deal.

Given that this is their first offer, I reckon it'll end up being closer to £20m with add-ons, which is probably around fair value. Was hoping we'd get more mind...

Accepted a while ago that he would be moving this summer and best of luck to the lad he absolutely deserves a shot at the premier league been nothing but a fantastic pro for us.

Bigger issue for me was always going to be what we got for him and how it was re-invested.

We best get used to it as we have at least two other players who are going to be even more in demand than Clarke is now

If we let him go it’s a sign that we don’t really want to do anything this season. If he stays it’s a big sign of intent to me.

Im not really bothered about the price although obviously we do seem to play hardball these days.

If we sell its almost guaranteed that he’ll be replaced by two or three kids who won’t be anywhere near ready.

They've sold players for about £140m and spent about £15m and left the squad hideously short...how is that showing ambition? If we did similar I doubt you'd be saying the same.

its tough isnt it, watching them week in week out and youre just knowing that when they start to progress were going to see some great football, but after 6 to 12months theyll inevitably move on. its so bitter sweet

that said, look back to 3 or 4 years ago and we could only dream of this situation. a lot of our 11 would attract healthy bids. Having a squad with such value, after having a squad of no value just a short while ago
