Is this Obstruction??

No way was there anything purposeful there, obviously he kicked the ball, but kicked the ball inadvertently. The kind of thing that brings the law into disrepute.

I have to say that had I been given out in those circumstances I would not have been as accepting as the Sri Lankan batsman.

There would definitely have been some loud and profusive statements regarding the oppositions manipulation of the rules and questions regarding the legitimacy of the birthright of some of their players.

That’s a really tough call tbh. There’s strong arguments for either. Can’t believe they appealed then celebrated mind

Not sure how you can say that tbh, watching the replay he cleared trod on the ball when he was walking backwards and did not see it.

Surely to be given out and the whole reason for the rule, is when a batsman does something to obstruct on purpose.?

Imo they is no way he did that, personally don’t think it tough call at all after replays just bad call!

Hmm I think he knows it’s right next to him as he sends the non striker back. He doesn’t intentionally kick it but has obstructed the fielder from getting it. All opinions which makes it so hard to call. Think we all agree the Windies should be embarrassed appealing for it though.

It has to be intentional though surely!
If you saying he hasn’t done it intentionally then it should not be given out?

I don't think the bowler was close enough to be obstructed when he accidentally trod on the ball.

The third umpire was so numb that he referred to the big screen to show the decision, when there didn't appear to be one (or at least not for this decision)
