Terrible decision.
Me too, I'm still raging about it a year laterThat’s what I thought too.
A fine and points deduction for Durham CCC is the only fair outcome of this situation.Penalty to Man Utd is the correct decision.
Not sure how you can say that tbh, watching the replay he cleared trod on the ball when he was walking backwards and did not see it.That’s a really tough call tbh. There’s strong arguments for either. Can’t believe they appealed then celebrated mind![]()
Hmm I think he knows it’s right next to him as he sends the non striker back. He doesn’t intentionally kick it but has obstructed the fielder from getting it. All opinions which makes it so hard to call. Think we all agree the Windies should be embarrassed appealing for it though. Not sure how you can say that tbh, watching the replay he cleared trod on the ball when he was walking backwards and did not see it.
Surely to be given out and the whole reason for the rule, is when a batsman does something to obstruct on purpose.?
Imo they is no way he did that, personally don’t think it tough call at all after replays just bad call!
It has to be intentional though surely!Hmm I think he knows it’s right next to him as he sends the non striker back. He doesn’t intentionally kick it but has obstructed the fielder from getting it. Hasn’t kicked it intentionally. I think he may of blocked the fielder from getting it intentionally. It has to be intentional though surely!
If you saying he hasn’t done it intentionally then it should not be given out?
Agreed. I would also take into account that he's walking backwards and is almost in his ground. Even if he hadn't kicked the ball I think he would have been safe before Pollard got to the ball.It has to be intentional though surely!

I don't think the bowler was close enough to be obstructed when he accidentally trod on the ball.Hmm I think he knows it’s right next to him as he sends the non striker back.
