Jermain Defoe, Joe Cole and Michael Carrick (amongst others) were relegated with West Ham in 2003. Were/are they not good enough?

You seem to be operating under the common misconception that if a player plies his trade in the league y, that's his level, not league x, or league z. Shelvey is patently too good for this league and is obviously a decent bottom half of the Premier League player. If you hold onto Pickford and he plays in the Championship is he immediately not good enough for the Premier League? Don't be silly.
We come again to the crux of each of our interactions; you don't like Newcastle United. That's fine, I and everyone else are firmly aware of that. Just say "FTM!! MAGS STINK!" or whatever, instead of bothering to type out other ridiculous things. Save yourself all the bother.

the difference with Shelvey is he was dropped by bog standard premiership team and then sold by same bog standard premiership team wit no-one else remotely interested in signing him. He then signed for another bog standard premniership who then dropped him in their relegation run in.
He is a talented footballer but his game awareness defensively is really poor for a top flight midfielder, gets wrong side, gives away daft fouls, players run off the back of him. In the top flight his weaknesses are exposed but not in the championship when you have the ball 75% of the time.
It wouldn't surprise me if Rafa tried to sell him now that his stock is higher than it was 12 months ago.
