IPL 2023 🇮🇳

At domestic Indian cricket, not an international cricket yet

Compare his start to that of Harry Brook for example
Averaging 65 in Odis

His test average will get there.

I wasn’t comparing him to harry brook who I also think is a brilliant cricketer btw.

It doesn’t always have to be them be England mate 😂

His ODI and T20I stats are superb though miles ahead of Brook so far.

He also had a class debut in Australia 3 years ago there best batsman as they won a series in Australia. He was only 20.

I don't think Brook was anywhere near England 3 years ago.

He's picked up in tests recently after he had a lean spell home and away against us. Still averaging 34 as an opener in test cricket as 23 year old pretty decent start for a young player.
I imagine Gill Brook and Green could be the new Kohli/Root/Smith as 3 of the fab 4. All got the capability to average 50+ in all 3 formats. Only a few months in age separating them.

Hard to really compare an opener with a number 5 like.

But I think we will see them battling out for years to come at the top of the batting rankings.

2 best under 25 batsman out there.

It's not shite it's still cricket at the end of the day. Which is still enjoyable regardless of the level or format.

It has some of the best on the planet on show. So plenty of action enough for some people to enjoy it more than other other cricket (albeit we'll ignore the obvious bias overseas picks depending on which Australia/South Africa/New Zealand former player is the coach).

But I'm way more looking forward to the WTC final in a week or so. Watching the likes of Siraj and Green progressing as test cricketers instead of smashing the IPL(going off their stats as opposed to watching it)
Of course I get all them points, but there is no doubt having watched most games in the IPL that the skill level of some of the players is extremely high.

And because of the other points you correctly mention that is not accepted or appreciated.

The talent of batsman like Yadav and Gill is very very high and Rashid Khan a truely great white ball spinner and cricketer.

T20 and particularly the IPL is a very very high standard of cricket indeed and it is not just about smashing it.

There is also no doubt in my mind the skills developed in T20 cricket that have now been brought into the test game have enhanced test cricket and it is a better game for it.

However of course take your point that it is getting too big and your very valid concerns that it eventually devalues international and test cricket which none of us wants.
