Personally I think the powers of be need to come together and work out the correct balance between something as popular as the IPL and international cricket and work out a way to protect both.

Rather than having a go at something that all concerned with it, praise it and enjoy it.

I think the tv rights package sold from the IPL ,show that it is poplar and watched in other countries otherwise they would not pay for the rights to broadcast it.

However of course in full agreement the Indians absolutely love it.

It’s something watched abroad not in this country, all it does is weaken the game, which basically won’t exist as we know it in 5 years

It’s of no benefit to us yet is going to destroy the game we love

That’s fine and as ever we have moved on from the original point you posted ‘ surely nobody is watching this still’

The answer to your original question is I watch it because I personally think it’s an absolute great watch and brilliant entertainment.

I watch it like any other person watches any tv programme because I throughly enjoy it, if that ok with you???

Compared to the impact it has on our game. Which we can do nothing about

You don’t seem to realise what’s happening on cricket. We are past the point of getting round a table and having a chat, these teams now have “franchises”, got what a hideous word, at all times of the year and players will turn down international cricket and they may even pick players straight from CC

IPL owner last month said test cricket will be something played in a small window every year like Wimbledon

All because of tournaments that nobody in this country even watches

It’s absolutely ruined the game and it’s only going to get longer and longer and longer

How are Steve Smith, Marnus Labuschagne, Kane Williamson, Joe Root, Babar Azam, Travis Head, Usman Khawaja, Jimmy Anderson, Stuart Broad, Pat Cummins, Shaheen Afridi, Ollie Robinson, Kyle Jamieson, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazelwood, Mohammed Rizwan, Dawid Malan, etc etc etc etc etc etc, getting on this year?

Because the IPL are doing what the Premier League did to football but a lot worse(discounting Indian "cricket" fans).

Have you missed the IPL franchises in South Africa and the USA? Also the talk of IPL owners employing players over their cricketing boards?

I should be the perfect audience for the IPL I'm 30 and grew up with it. But I've yet to watch a full IPL game despite having the means to watch it every year it's existed.

I fell in love with cricket because of the 2005 Ashes so as a result of that test cricket.

It's still better than football at its best a sport I've ploughed more time and money into by a mile

In answer to the why. I hope a drawn IPL means they all lose all their investments while the players and staff get paid and the owners go bust.
 
The winner of the IPL receives prize money of 20 Crore. Converted to sterling this equates to around £175 million.

T20 Blast winners this year will get £175,000.

Quite a difference.

It's not shite it's still cricket at the end of the day. Which is still enjoyable regardless of the level or format.

It has some of the best on the planet on show. So plenty of action enough for some people to enjoy it more than other other cricket (albeit we'll ignore the obvious bias overseas picks depending on which Australia/South Africa/New Zealand former player is the coach).

But I'm way more looking forward to the WTC final in a week or so. Watching the likes of Siraj and Green progressing as test cricketers instead of smashing the IPL(going off their stats as opposed to watching it)

It’s clashing with the sheff wed play off final

I rarely watch a full ipl game but I do tend to check in with it from time to time . I was going to watch some of the final though

india is unique in the cricket world and it’s shows little sign of it losing the fans interest .

I do wish they would bring in some new comms though . Far too partisan and uncritical. Even when a bowler is hammered, he is still bowling well for some of the comms

same with shot making

probably watch the chase once the play off final is over
