He’s an opener, not a middle order batsman. Plenty of people have accused some of the test batsmen of being messed around by changing their positions, don’t see why it’s any different to a young lad trying to make his way in an unfamiliar position.

Agree no idea why he was batting 4 Gill the opener hasnt exactly set the world alight opening and you have one of thw best un and coming players and bat him out of position. The england team is a bit tougher as you have 3 quality opening t20 batsman personally think hes a better T20 player than Roy though and does Bairstow or Buttler have to open.

This match so far has been like watching an amateur batting lineup Im picking the spinner from the tv out his hand how are the batsman not

Not me like, thats not being messed around, that is international cricket. They can't drop one of their world class players for an unproven young lad like

you have to take chances whenever they come.

I am not one who thinks young test batsman been messed around, they have to prove themselves before they get the position they want

thats international sport.

not suggesting its easy, and I am not really being critical of him either. If he wants to get in as opener, he is going to be waiting a long time.

Spot on, should be opening in T20 side or not in the side at all

What were his stats like when playing at Bishop?

Commentators are doing their best to get Stokea out of the team hopefully he does well with the ball, its clear T20 isnt his beat format but you still want to see him playing as hes a match winner.

Is he a match winner in this format for England he certainly isn't

Just had a look, and his batting is actually pretty poor (by his standards). 26 matches and top score 47*. A bunch of players have played fewer matches and made a 50 (Vince, Patel, Bell, Trott, Kieswetter, Banton, Malan). He obviously adds bowling and fielding but I was quite surprised how average his batting has been

(Obviously he bats lower than many of those)
