Investment in the stadium

Not sure why I’m replying sensibly but nevertheless…. Sunderland has more potential for legacy which bids quite like. I’m not sure if you’ve been to either the SoL or St James but there’s not much between it in terms of stadium quality and size. The SoL is better from an access point of view as well hence why big artists play there every summer
I have been to both many times, there is not a black cat in hells chance Sunderland would be selected over Newcastle in this day and age.

In that case you’ll know that there is little between the stadiums.

RE the italics, let’s wait and see. No-one would claim that Newcastle isn’t a bigger city with better infrastructure but that often doesn’t matter when it comes to selection of venues in big tournaments. They like legacy and impact. And there’s more scope with Sunderland.

They wouldn’t pick Sunderland over Newcastle, Newcastle trump Sunderland at literally everything. Stadium, location, supporters, global recognition.

Really....? Its a lop sided shit tip with crap views (too far away from the pitch) for 40% of the stadium and only 3k more capacity that ours. WTF has supporters, got to do with the selection of a stadium. As for global recognition...? Think that went up only in a negative way....! What planet are you on?

Agreed they will get the nod because of transport links ect. We (Sunderland) rely on metro (Not good at all) links back to Newcastle for hotels.

Support and standard of stadium isn’t really a conversation suited to a Boro Fan

“Falling apart in places” Jesus wept man! God knows how you would have coped at Roker Park!
Still remember plodging through the piss at the Roker End toilets and being soaked in torrential rain with no roof. Sat at the opening of the SoL with Status Quo playing away and it was amazing, it still is but like any lady needs looking after.

Isn’t that the wrong way round? It’s a bit like the idiots who move near a church and complain when the bells ring.Any developments will have to take into account the SOL and its potential expansion.
It doesn't work like that .......potential does not exist in the planning council planning department!its a first come first served sorta bagsy environment that deals with and inhabits in the now.
They may do projections but they cannot refuse planning on a what might or might not happen basis .........that's why murrey chose to extend the north stand as he knew the swimming pool development was doing the rounds and he knew it would be difficult to renew the planning permission if the pool had been built or even the plans approved.

How do you know this? Why would the pool affect the planning permission? It's over the road from the stadium.

Why’s everyone arguing with one person just? Also why do people call the championship the champo? Weird

Murray stated it in one of his blow my own trumphet interviews.
OK mate. I just don't think the housing will be built close enough to the stadium, to affect a possible extension. I suppose we will find out when the housing gets built.

The south stand extension plans are still there in the planning portal from 2004 (If i remember correctly)....I think plans only have validity of 5 years so they would have to be re-submitted if they want to get it again (although I would think any plans would be a bit different now)..the plans were gonna put an extra 7000+ on the capacity, that would take it to 55-56k
