India v England series

Hales being dropped meant Bairstow went up to open in the one day stuff, the argument is that it meant he changed his stance & therefore his game to open up the off side and hit in to out.

It’s one of the reasons there’s a gap between his bat & pad he gets out lbw and bowled through the gate so frequently.
But that gap was always there and it’s just being exploited again.

He’s just a product of this ‘go for it’ mentality - play your shots before a decent ball gets you out (doesn’t even have to be a decent ball these days)

He’s also a high class wicket keeper batsman who has the next best averaged for an England keeper behind Stewart and prior. They move him up and down the order like there is no tomorrow. Same with Ali. No wonder both focus on white ball where they have defined roles.

The real concern is Crawley, Sibley, Burns and pope

They are our red ball bankers and they’ve been utterly awful, albeit inexperienced
Yep he is. He’s far better than he’s shown this series that’s for sure.

I’ve a lot of sympathy for the likes of YJB and Mo for as you say they’ve been moved up and down and messed about, but I’ve also sympathy with the management and thing generally there’s been valid reasons why they have. I’m sure it hasn’t been done to mess them about and ruin their games.

No that’s not right. For a period of almost two years he was averaging over 40 as keeper batsman at 7, you don’t do that with a technical flaw or the wrong attitude. He was genuinely a world class player there

That’s just pure pressure from the India team that...no way was the umpire gonna give that out but changed his mind from the ferocity of the appeal

Yes, 2 years either side of having the same deficiencies in his technique, which he’s been reluctant to address.

You can’t keep selecting him based on his white ball form or those magical ‘two years’

We are going over old ground but they were fine at 7 n 8, should never have been moved

Even now bairstow has to bat 3 not pope, who gets a plumb position at 6 despite being our next most talented

He won’t play in England bairstow so not sure why he gets all the attention as usual

The concern are the young lads who have shown nothing to be honest
