India v England series

Just have to hope we beat them in the summer. Imagine if they won that as well
I’m going to ignore all social media for at least 6 months. You didn’t hear a peep from them when they were 6 down yesterday, yet they’re all out like cockroaches emerging after nuclear holocaust. You can’t reason with them,

At least we might win the white ball stuff

Problem is they actually do have a good pace bowling attack and Ishant, Bumrah, Siraj, Shami, Kumar would all do well in those conditions

Bumrah has hardly played a test outside of India. Siraj has hardly played one inside. They regularly come over with a pace bowler or two with a decent reputation and they have little or no impact.

One thing that has impressed me in this series and they can carry over to here is their fielding mind. Tight and hardly gave up a chance.

Don't even blame the rotation policy as they sacrificed the test series for the hit and giggle stuff, not suggesting that they would have definitely won with their best team out every game either but they cut their own nose off to spite their face. The 3rd test pitch destroyed England's confidence in playing just 6 batsmen. all-in-all a bit of a cock-up really.

This.

Test cricket will always be the pinnacle.

An Ashes series win over a World Cup win every time.

Wholesale changes are needed for England to be a top Test side but we haven’t got the depth to make them. It’s going to be an inconsistent era of Test match cricket. There’ll be some home wins and the sporadic win in losing test series abroad and that’s about the extent of it.

Of the side that played today, youd only really say that Root, Stokes and Anderson are anything like top test match performers (Foakes with the gloves of course but is that enough in the modern game?).

Broard and Buttler?

Fast forward to November, I would like to think that lyon will not be taking 30 wickets in that series. He likes to bowl top spinning straight onto the batsmen balls, which took a lot of wickets here

No they don’t

We’d won 6 away test in a row before that and 4 test series

Totalky unfair and foakes isn’t on our best XI at All

People just writing off a team who played well for 18 months and even got to number 1 in test champ briefly because of 3 poor performances, 2 of which on unplayable pitches?

Those results have absolutely no impact to when we play at home or in Oz like

Why the need for constant hyperbole?

This is the most consistent we’ve been in years

We’d not won 6 in a row away from home for 100 years

Whose sale changes???? No thanks.

the relevance of results on these wickets frankly has no impact on home or ashes test matches, thats why cricket is such a unique sport and why its so good to watch

its almost a totally different skill set playing in these conditions.

Why are you focusing on him? He flew out for the last 2 test matches that’s it

Focus on the lads in red ball contracts who have been awful

He’s always the fall guy even though he’s not in our full squad XI

Bairstow has been disappointing even by my low expectations.

I know he is better batting down the order, but he is one of the highest scoring batsmen in county cricket, supposedly a good player of spin and a senior player the young players would be looking to for some leadership and moral support, yet in three innings out of four in this series, he hasn't even troubled the scorer.

Dare I say Joe Denly would have done a better job in that role as he, at least, has the mindset to dig in and take some leather off the ball.

Jonny is a first class white ball player but wouldn't play in the test side again for me.

I think its hard to judge him on that, was decent in Sri Lanka, sent home, and straight back in during the first over off a plane on an awful pitch, he had no chance, its been poor management all round.

He isn't on a red ball contract, so why he gets page after page on him I dont know

Sibley and Burns get paid over 3 times what Bairstow do, on red ball contracts, they are the issue.

Agree with this. We have been moving in the right direction before India started their pitch doctoring antics. Some serious question marks about our ability to bowl or play spin but you don't chuck the baby out with the bathwater.

I agree. It was a more difficult series for the likes of Sibley, Crawley, Pope etc than all of us would have expected with 2 of the 4 test match pitches being poor. They didn't do well and i don't mind constructive criticism but their long term prospects shouldnt be harmed because of this very difficult tour.

100% aye

Burns, Sibley, Crawley back to top 3

The only issue for me going forward is Pope, I think they were relying on him being class so he could go to number 3, then probs Crawley squeezes out Burns. But he hasn't delivered for over a year now.

I am not concerned, we have depth with Stone, Wood, Broad, Woakes, Jimmy etc

We were not ready for that tour, it was almost impossible with our inexperience, the lockdown, no practice games, rotation etc.

It happens, they were better in those conditions, simple, you dont open the bowling with Patel at Headingly do you, or Cape Town, or Brisbane

This tour was his first test in India so that's completely wrong
