India v England - Second Test

Fantastic 2 days for England although the Indians have completely shot themselves in the foot by refusing to go along with the review system.

Hope that Bairstow, Patel and Prior are given licence to play their natural games because a couple of hours at the crease for any of them could take the game away from the hosts.

Am I missing something? How exactly have we had two fantatstic days? We let them off the hook in the first day which resulted in them getting a good total.

Now we have already lost 2 wickets and our fragile middle order cant really be trusted to get the runs we need to put ourselves in the driving seat.

Cook has played a beauty and Pietersen has looked good but I expect both of them to be gone by the end of the first session tomorrow. If (and probably when) that happens we will be in trouble.

:-? If the middle order fail thats their responsibility but 180 or so for 2 is a good score. Whatever happens tomorrow - even if we are rolled for 250 at this moment in time we have had a good couple of days.

Good. The f***ing wankers.

As for tomorrow - its all going so well for us, if these two can hang around for a little bit tomorrow (Cook making 100, KP adding 30 of so) then it'll give the likes of Bairstow, Prior and Patel license to go and play some shots. Hopefully we'll get a lead of 100 or so.

More than likely though - we'll lose Cook and KP early, play some ridiculous shots, middle order will crumble, Swann will get a quick 25 and that'll be about the highlight as we limp to 270 all out and the Indians Close with a lead of 200 and 8 wickets left. :-(

You have been here before, haven't you?

Aye. But when we had that 120-5 or whatever it was, we should have gone for the throat. We let them off the hook and our batting could easily collapse. We may not get a first innings lead yet, and I wouldn't fancy chasing too many in the 4th innings.

All true enough!

The talk of 250 being a good score on this pitch now looks like a load of rubbish. Even if we don't get parity and we collapse (like England are well capable of doing) we're going to get over 300 and Monty and Swann could well rip through them second innings. If these two stay together until we get to 300 and the rest come in and give it some tap we could be well on top in a few hours time.

Hopefully KP can get his double hundred, enabling us to get a lead of 100+. We're currently 316-4 just after lunch. Common sense and a bit of luck and the game is ours to throw away.

I think my little one must have known we were in for a good day's play today, been up since half 4 with him watching this. Class from Cook and Pietersen to get us a first innings lead, unlucky for Bairstow to get out from what should have been a no ball but Patel was well worked out. Hopefully Prior can help keep the run rate up and turn this lead into a potentially decisive one.
