India tour

Would have considered going but it's too much hard work imo. Shame as I'd love to go there. One test in Mumbai would have been nice.

Feel like they'll be poorly attended anyway

It’s a bit like football though. Going to Luton is better crack than going to MK Dons or Arsenal (IMO), and some of the back of beyond places will be quality. If you have the time then I reckon Dharmamasala or Vizag would be great.

Also, there’s no other test tour this winter and 24/25 is NZ/Pak so we might take decent numbers.

Yeah they do look decent but time travelling is the issue for me. An 8 hour flight to Mumbai is much more appealing and I've never been to India so all of it would be probably be class for me anyway

One word of caution if anyone is thinking of heading to the Dharmamasala test. Earlier this year the Aussies were due to play a test there but it was moved very late on due to concerns over the surface. You’d like to think it wouldn’t happen 2 years in a row but you never know!

Well that's another thing with India, to make me umm and ahh about going. You never quite know, nothing is certain until the players are walking to the middle on day 1! I'm amazed they've announced the fixtures and grounds so early, there's bound to be a twist

Sending us a bit back of beyond aren't they. As a one time trip was hoping they'd do Mumbai or Delhi. Especially if the cricket is going to be on for just 2 or 3 days with their shite pitches
This

Never heard of Garam masala or Didcot or Viz mag

Ranchi is the old Aussie/NZ reserve WK iirc

Doing the World Cup in India in October with a little bit of a tour around Himachal Pradesh and the Punjab instead of tests. Taking in England games at Dharamshala and Delhi. Delhi & Mumbai are the only places with direct flights from the UK. Dharamshala is a bit out of the way with no train connection from Delhi or anywhere else for that matter. Rajkot is in Gujarat which is a dry state if you like a beer.

There's a few world cup games being held there in October and November so hopefully that helps the get it sorted beforehand.

In the same boat as me then! Can only justify a week away so 2x24 hour journeys make it tough.
British Airways fly direct to Hyderabad. It's one of the better Indian Cities, canny architecture, a lake, and a huge Buddha statue. An IT centre as well.
Vizag ok, has beaches, but not like Goa. Internal flights from Hyderabad.
Am going, will hopefully do 4, not sure which ones.
Rajkot was brilliant, only about 150 fans there. Unlike anywhere else I've been in India. Local rickshaw drivers taking selfies with foreigners and buying you cups of tea. Same if you are walking down the street, getting dragged in to chai stalls. No foreigners go there, so v different. There's also a National Park in Gujarat with Asiatic Lions. And another NP which is a Wild Ass Sanctuary!
The state of Gujrat is officially dry, so no pubs, but if you want, you can get a liquor license. Or buy on the black market. I didn't bother.
Had never even heard of Ranchi, so should be interesting.
Also, good that Dharamsala is last, as it should be a bit warmer by then.

Sounds amazing that mate. I’d love to do something similar but I’m not sure I’d have the balls. How are English people received in India? It feels like it has become quite a nationalist country under that wanker Modi.

Never been so haven't a clue. They have some right helmets on cricket forums but the same could be said of any country ("happy the colonial imperialist is dead" was one post I saw about the Queen last year). Might have to be a bit sensitive in Amritsar I'd imagine cos of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre.

We went and it was pretty friendly, but not as much as Sri Lanka which is ridiculous. Locals wanted selfies with us when walking the streets etc. One of my mates went to Mumbai without a ticket and there were massive queues at their ticket office. He was marched to the front cos he was white/ a tourist

Hyderabad test currently £561 return/ 14 hours each way from Newcastle which is a great price.
