What's most alarming about yesterday's result is how reliant it proved we are on Ki, Borini (loanees), Johnson (massively inconsistent) and Brown (sicknote).

We're fragile as fuck.

Correct, Poyets between a rock and a hard place. Protect these players so they are in peak physical and mental condition or run them into the ground. Glad I don't have to please our supporters.

Still think poyet is the bees knees just fun yesterday really hard to swallow like. Especially making that fat Geordie twat look like a genius, gifted hull a pass through to the semis against a league 1 team and a possible final against a championship team FFS. Why can't we do everything their professional footballers FFS why do they need a rest ? Still fuckin me off like we better actually get out of the shit then cause I can see us going down and it will be a long time before we get a chance like that again.

Too early to chase silverware! I have heard it all

There's an awful lot of shite spoken about on here about "this being a once in a lifetime opportunity". It's bollocks. No one give a shit about the cups, which is why the smaller clubs regularly get a crack at the semis and finals.

We should be challenging in the cups every season, not risking it all this season because of some false notion that we'll never get another chance.

There's a genuine hatred from fans of all things SKY within football, we all despise the way they've ruined the working mans game and made it all about a single thing, staying in the Premiership. It dominates everything, absolutely everything, and yesterday was another chance for our game to be about something else. Glory, victory, history. No wonder we're up in arms about not going for it all guns blazing.

People don't hate Poyet all of a sudden, we love the man, he's doing his best and the big picture is important, we know that. But next year, when Borini and Ki and others have left us, and we're out of the cups early and we're still wondering what league we're going to be in the year after, we'll know we missed a chance for our game to be worth something more than 15th or 16th in a media driven commercial activity. Is success in something other than the premiership really a distraction?

You don't need to rest players for two weeks for them to give their best. Injuries and suspensions are part of the game, part of the risk, we haven't got the squad to rotate so in important games you give it your best shot. You have got to take that risk. This clearly wasn't an important enough game to do that and while I can, really can empathise with this without agreeing with it, it's shit that it's like that. Last weekend should have sent the message loud and clear that getting to Wembley means something, it got lost in translation.

Thats the point though, through his team selection he didnt was us to challange. I find that completely unacceptable.

I think that's overstating things a bit. It was a weakened team, but so was Hull's (due to Jelavic and Long being cup tied). The replacements for the players he dropped were all senior, mainly internationals, he hardly threw the game.

Plain unlucky really, kept it 0-0 with a shit team till last 20 went for the win bringing Johnson n borini on. Shit hit the fan, unfortunate

Too early to challenge for a cup? We'll just wait another 40 years then cos we've just pissed away a glorious opportunity.

Not playing 6 first team players is pretty absolute though mate.

Why do we have to wait 40 years?

What makes you think there won't be an opportunity next season?

Teams who made the semis this season - Sheff Utd, Hull, Wigan
Last season - Wigan, Millwall
2011 - Stoke, Bolton
2010 - Portsmouth
2008 - Portsmouth, Barnsley, WBA, Cardiff
2007 - Watford, Blackburn
2006 - Middlesboro, West Ham

We could have another bash next year. There are "glorious opportunities" most years, because the big clubs couldn't give a shite about the cups til the final.

Like fuck it is, he's trying to get Fltcher and Scocco match fit and that team with the "'6" supporting was good enough. It wasn't Dossena or Vergini who fucked it. It was O'shea and Cattermole. Two from our best starting 11.

It's not as easy as that. We were in the quarter final yesterday against a team we should be better than. Look how the draw has panned out. Wigan, Arsenal, Hull (us) and Sheffield. That's a far greater opportunity than starting from the 3rd round every year. Of course there's a chance every year, but this could have been a glorious cup season. Two (three) Wembley appearances and Europe.

We had no chances! None!!! mistakes are more possible when you are under pressure. This comes from playing a weaker side. If Ki was playing we would have controlled the tempo of the game more and increased ball retention thus, reducing press and therefore reducing the possibility of mistakes. If Brown was playing we would have been more solid at the back again reducing chance of a mistake. If Borni and AJ started we actually might have tested a shit Hull defence.

I can go on if you like. Poyet fucked up and couldnt care less about the FA cup. That is a f***ing great shame and we have thrown away a massive opportunity.

Who uses an FA Cup quarter final to get players fit? That's a disgraceful attitude to have and shows that Poyet (which we all knew) couldn't give a rat's arse about the FA Cup.
