If we do lose some of these current players

The current lot have nothing to fear if they don’t join the visitors,

They are all giving 100% for the club and respecting the fans. Obviously if any of them and the club receive a daft offer from a “bigger” club they might go, but I think most people would understand that.

All of them appear to be enjoying being at SAFC and from everything we see, they all appear to be getting on and having a lot of fun and laughs together which cannot be underestimated. Agents can obviously unsettle players, but if they like where they are, that will be a harder thing to do.

I am also pretty sure that if any of the lads who left last season were to return they would be given a warm reception.

Its easy really, give 100% whilst you are here, don’t slag the fans or club off and don’t join the visitors.

It would only happen if the players give cause. A Darren Bent style departure would get some grief. Saying something stupid when leaving would attract some negative comments but otherwise, if anything, we’re overly generous to ex players returning! That’s better than being precious arseholes about it though.

Hope we don't turn on them if and when they return with another club.

Whatever happens from now on they have done us proud. Football these days is temporary but memories last forever
Will depend on how the negotiations go i expect . Get a good price and shake hands they're heros welcomed back. Push us into taking a half arsed offer last minute leaving us short and they'll be rejected.
I dont expect that from the lads but look how Liverpool tried to operate with Geertruide , heads can be turned for big money last minute and agents are snakes

There's going to be a lot of interested parties circling our current squad, and I expect the club to negotiate for the best possible recompense from a very strong position. But it'd be naive of us to believe that players won't attempt to force the clubs hand mind.

It's going to be a tough off season. The expectation of great eye opening signings and the angst of endless reports of offers from "bigger" clubs. We're all going to be frazzled by pre season.

Somehow feel Le Fee and RLB are joined at the hip. I may be wrong but I reckon it would take a very very big wage for Le Fee to leave
One of the things that will play into our hands with Brobbey, Mukiele, Le Fee and a few others is the fact they have already had big money moves which havent worked out. They will know the feeling of being unsettled/stuck on the bench and wont want to risk repeating that, therefore might want to stay put for another season or two before considering offers.

Let's wait until the end of the season because there is still something to play for, but...

In the context of how football is right now- our achievements this season is somewhat historic. We started this season with the commonly held view that survival in the PL for a newly promoted team is essentially impossible.

Geertruida himself has gone the right way about it though. He may have wanted to go there, especially given the limited opportunities we have given him, but he has knuckled down and got on with it, played well when being given the opportunity and was the one leading the celebrations at St James'

I'd like to see us signing him permanently at the end of the season, but would definitely understand if he didn't want to.

I think all of our current players signed on the understanding that survival was the aim as well. We have comfortably exceeded that, and that can only help us to retain them.

Ive got nothing but good feelings for Geertruide no matter how it goes . Im just sorry we couldn't have done more to accomodate him

Unless they went on strike to get moves or something, I’m sure they’d always get warm welcomes.

Completely agree regarding Geertruida, he’s been in and out like a cuckoo in a clock and seems to have been the utmost professional throughout.

I’m fairly sure the “bait” to get them to sign in the first place included a tacit acknowledgement that we wouldn’t stand in their way if a “bigger” club came calling. Xhaka aside mind as I’m sure he’s been lured here with a view to coaching/management and I’ve never been so sure in my life of an ex-pro making the change from playing to management successfully as Xhaka.

I cant think of any reason why I would have beef with any current player that left, unless they either went to the Saudi's or slagged the club off when they left

BBC Football Gossip is updated every day and our club, players and targets hardly get a mention yet
Those up the road are daily linked with nearly every one, they're going to spend billions🤣
