How would I go about it?

I'm 21, never played it competitively, but I need something to do over summer.

Play hockey in winter to quite a high standard, so I'm reasonably fit with good hand/eye coordination etc.

Obviously not got any gear or owt.

Any pointers?
 

put your name down for the smb games we will be playing probably about twice a week during the summer. If your any good then you will more than likely be asked to play for Houghton 2nds or 3rds on a weekend.
 
Not sure where the nearest club is to that but I am sure they Sunderland lads off here will be along shortly to tell you

You not fancy playing the team that the lads off here set up, they are based at Houghton iirc

Thats indeed if they are looking for new players

They seem all professional and that though :lol:

Ideally just want to go along somewhere, have a 'net' (a knar the lingo :lol:) and see if I can actually bat as well as I could as a kid.

If I'm shite, I'm shite, but might as well do something.
 
Best off trying for your works team (if they have one) and the SMB. The SMB is open to members from the SMB (except Mags) and we welcome people of all abilities. We've got lads who hadn't played before, or hadn't played since school etc.

We're short next Tuesday and Thursday if you fancy it.

Don't worry about kit, I'm sure there'll be someone willing to lend you their pads/bat etc, until you decide whether it's for you or not.

smb isn't proffessional at all mara get your name put down its possibly the best way of finding out if you like cricket or are any good. Most of the games are filled with people like youself or average cricketers all playing for fun. There are two games next week get your name put down for one.

It will be hard to turn up to someone elses nets without knowing someone before hand.

You havent seen them play mate:lol:

I have played myself a few times when they are short mate, cracking bunch of lads apart from Peterlee yacker (cock watcher)

Give it a try mate, nowt to lose;-)

do you like beer.curry,fags and lasses if so in what order.... gear shouldnt be a problem for the smb games mate.. some one will let you use thier gear... just get your own box...

and the initiation involves my box and underpants if your interested;-)
 
Eddy are the nets on this friday night??

That might be the best to pop along to as a starting point and then go from there.
