ID checks for away tickets

None of this bollocks was an issue when the club needed to fill away ends at Rochdale and Cambridge. They couldn't give a fuck who was there during the league one days. They must think we're all stupid.

Good to get clarity on the ticket checks. Two missed checks and they'll be in touch, but could prevent you applying for future away tickets.

I thought they skirted around the question of what to do in genuine cases when you cant go a touch. Contact the ticket office. Which is fine if you know well in advance you cant go. But if its last minute (which it can be) thats not an option.

And acceptable forms of id a passport and drivers licence. Fine for the bulk of us but not everyone has this.

I informed them 24 hours before the match. Still lost the point, and then got picked again next match. Both were untargeted

The reason they don’t do more than 10 is because of the staffing cost and how time consuming it is. No club check every single ticket. I’m assuming the sanctions next season for anyone caught passing their ticket on will be much more severe and this season is a trial run to weed people out / warn them off.

I fully agree with the checks btw, I just think a non attendance is different to refusing a check, if they email and say you didn’t attend, why? And you give your evidence and they take the point off fair enough. But to have to ring or tell the ticket office in emergency when it’s closed is bollocks!

They then say they are watching the tickets on social media- well then check them, make the example out of them.

If I get pulled for a check I’ll not mind, generally travel with me driving license, BUT if my son is in and I get pinged they are not going to like the scene I cause about safeguarding

When I missed v West Ham the ticket office didn’t open that day! They can’t say that is a valid line of response when it’s not actually available, who knows they are going to have the full family fighting for the bogs to be sick and avoid shitting the beds at 3.30pm the day before they are up at 2am attached to the bogs.

My mate returned one for Arsenal and they let him said if they haven’t sent the digital links out they are happy to cancel and refund but once the ticket holder had the link they couldn’t so I would say the day of they wouldn’t have helped

I noticed they also didn't give clarity on what happens if someone else turns up with your ticket. If you miss the check it seems pretty light touch, but if someone tries to scan in, gets rejected, and they find it's not the right person, what do they do then? Strange they didn't publicise that

Get it mate he did get turned away last season when trying to return the day before a game and told he couldn’t return it the woman reckons it was because away clubs request all sales information 24 hours prior and ask the club not to make any changes after they’ve sent it. Probably too much hassle for the home club to have a on the day return system

What an absolute load of nonsense. Of course they could add the point on. If you have location history turned onto your phone that will prove you were in the stadium on the day of the match. Still probably not good enough for them though.

For some, picking up a spare is the only way they'll ever go to an away game because they haven't got the time or the money to go to 10+ games to guarantee a ticket. Whats the issue like? If someone is happy to give their ticket away and it is used by a genuine supporter then who cares?

I'm on 20 odd points but I certainly dont think i missed out on mag ticket because everyone in the 50 point bracket sells their ticket every other week. If you're in that position then fair play regardless of how you got there.

Maybe im in the minority but all this proving you were there and making you feel guilty if you dont go like we are all back in school getting questioned for missing a day stinks especially when these clowns were nowhere to be seen when they needed people to turn up at Rochdale on a Tuesday night.

I'd assume it would flag as rejected tbh, and then if you didn't go to show ID, or someone who wasn't you went to try and collect the ticket, they'd know it was a ticket that was passed on. Might be wrong like, but I'd assume the technology is capable of registering when deactivated tickets are swiped

There has to be a way for people to move up the ladder. People passing on tickets and keeping their points high prevents that.

If someone, sometimes gets a random ticket I don't think it's much of an issue. But there are some who will buy for every game, sell most of them on, just to guarantee they can always get to whichever games they fancy. Not saying that'll be widespread but I know it happens. And for all it won't cost you, or I, a ticket, there will be some who only just miss out and who would have deserved their place. I think it's fair enough, if you aren't going to the game, don't buy a ticket. Again, I know there'll be rare occasions when someone buys them can't go, but if people are passing on tickets 5 or more times a season it takes the piss

Noticed they were silent on the appeals process.

Yes they have conditions of sale etc but there should be a way for people to appeal against any sanction the club determine is appropriate.

also still think the general transparency around this is poor from the club.

I think if anything this will make it even more of a closed shop. Some people will stop going that picker and choosed. But the ones in 40/50 points will go and therefore nobody else will ever get a chance!

If it means some are going to the biggest games, when they haven't put the miles in to deserve the ticket, then a lot of people will care, especially those who just missed out. And what they're doing at the minute is presumably just seeing what sort of level the problem is. If it's only a handful each week then they won't bother doing checks for long and it won't be a huge issue in the grand scheme of things. If it ends up being a substantial number then that means a lot of people would be missing out on games they should have a chance to attend

The club don’t seem to realise there is a massive difference between a genuine long term attendee passing a ticket to a friend because they are on holiday or in hospital versus the point hoarding shitheads that accumulate points because someone is using their number en masse and clicking for a couple of quid a ticket as a result.
