ID checks for away tickets

There’s a note on the ticket download notification email.

Additional Ticket Information

Supporters are advised Away tickets are sold on an individual basis and links must not be copied and shared with others.

Note - Random ticket spot checks will be carried out throughout the season
Aye but apart from that they need to tell people 😂

How did it go today?

One check in our group. He didn't add the ticket to his wallet till about an hour before , and it just wouldn't let him add it. Went to ticket office and helpful lad sorted it took about 5 mins

Missed the first 5 mins due to getting stuck in crowds outside the security check but I think it was the 15 minute protest people coming in late

The club should be on the same side as the fans not hiding behind T+Cs ..

All the nonsense and bullshit they post on Twitter , they could easily post some helpful, respectful information, just to show that they care about the fans .

That’s been common practice for many years.

The club put further updates out on Twitter for those travelling before away games.

The comms have improved a lot this season.

A mate of mine got the red light at kick off. Got sorted at the ticket office.

I will hold my hand up and admit I was on a ticket which was handed on. Two searches on the way in was excessive. Lad in front of me got his ticket refused. I breathed a huge sigh of relief when the scanner turned green. Mind you getting old meant I had to get the steward to show me how to scan the ticket 😃😃
Yes I know I am the devils spawn when it comes to tickets. Apart from the result I’m having a great day out with the West Ham lads.

What did the lad have to do, go ticket office?

They can’t just do at turnstile.

They send an email!

It’s not a legal requirement to carry ID in any walk of life nevermind watching Sunderland.

People are just making shit up now

Why should he have to pay for that. Unless it free
I don’t think anyone ever said it was a legal requirement to carry ID so nobody is “making shit up now”.

A business can however put reasonable restrictions on the terms of entry to their property and if they decide that one of them is photo ID, you have 2 choices.

1. Take photo ID
2. Don’t go to the match

Were they in your group?
No, 4 people from my group have had ID checks (2 at Man City, 1 at Brighton and 1 at West Ham) and they've all had no problems as they're there on their own season tickets with the required points. They're benefitting from the thousands of pounds and the endless travelling they've done all over the country in league 1 and the championship. Some have gone from virtaully 0 points only 3 seasons ago to being in phase 1 for Bournemouth yesterday.

I haven't had a season ticket ticket form over ten years as I moved to London. Still go to lots of away games nearby as I use a family member's season ticket which has plenty of points.

I see alot or fellow London based fans at London aways who I know don't have season tickets so I'm not the only one who does this!

On a side note in the 90s we used to go to lots of away games and we didn't have a season ticket. This includes the Sheff Utd playoff semi. My dad has no memory of how he got tickets. Were they just less popular then?

Won’t last much longer longer

Just received my email from the club with the info for the Arsenal game.

First time I've noticed the bit about your name being on the digital ticket

  • For this fixture, your name will be visible on your digital ticket.
  • If your ticket shows a red light at the turnstile, you will be directed to the Ticket Office.
Just been through my Google Wallet and none of my previous away electronic tickets have my name on them.
