ID checks for away tickets

Just received my email from the club with the info for the Arsenal game.

First time I've noticed the bit about your name being on the digital ticket

  • For this fixture, your name will be visible on your digital ticket.
  • If your ticket shows a red light at the turnstile, you will be directed to the Ticket Office.
Just been through my Google Wallet and none of my previous away electronic tickets have my name on them.
Have to say I can’t think of the last time someone asked to see my phone for the ticket, just scan it and that’s that

Never had my phone checked either.

Probably adding it to simplify the checking process if you are selected for an ID Check.

Just need to have ID to match your electronic ticket instead of them having to go a step further back and check emails etc.

Perhaps the name on the ticket is an arsenal thing….

Those emails are incredibly concise

Could I take a picture of my passport for my phone or do I need to take the real thing?

Photo of passport worked for my mate at west ham
That was what I thought.

Maybe the Premier League are insisting all clubs ramp up the checks.

Increasing comms about them could be part of the deterrent strategy to put people off passing on tickets.

I just wish there was a legal way to pass them on , especially on the day .

Bound to be a few who have to duff it at the last minute for every game

I've just took a photo of my passport bit with the pic of me and name. I just want to watch a game of footy at the end of the day.

I've got my driving license but if if didn't I'd be very nervous about taking my physical passport out with me on an away day drinking all day on trains ans down London etc.. seems quite risky

Exactly. I don't want to take my passport with me either. A few beers and I'm not as careful as I should be.

A copy is not valid unless it is a certified copy.

Documents in the UK can be certified by a professional person or someone of good standing in the community, such as a solicitor, notary public, chartered accountant, bank official, doctor, minister of religion, teacher, or police officer. The certifier must not be a relative, live at the same address, or be in a relationship with you.

Got no problem with id checks but it's really odd they haven't stipulated what is a valid form of ID.
Obviously I won't carry my passport and don't normally carry my driving licence around either.
Would a veterans ID card be accepted for example or even a picture Railcard, both of which I have in my wallet.
A little clarification would probably go a long way.

I assume they’ll be quite lenient on the IDs provided and would accept photos of passports and rail cards etc. as the last thing they want is an away fan potentially kicking off about not being allowed into the ground when they’re clearly the ticket holder (unless you get a right jobsworth at the ticket office).
