ID checks for away tickets

The ticket office at Brighton was absolutely miles away from the away turnstiles and I walked past it on my way, only to have to walk all the way back , then back again to the the turnstiles .. it's becoming a piss take if they aren't going to give us a heads up at least on the morning of the game

Unfortunately, as they’ve seen a significant increase in tickets being sold on Facebook this season they may have changed their approach as giving people the “heads up” provides an opportunity for people to prepare “fake ID”. As ever, it’s the actions of the minority which impact the majority. Their view appears to indicate it’s easier for fans to retain their position in the pecking order for Mags tickets for example by purchasing and selling tickets for every game this season as there’s obviously the demand there. There was a fan who got scammed for £200 for Brighton tickets on Facebook.
 

I don’t have a driving license due to a medical condition so have had to start taking my passport to away games which is a recipe for disaster - I’m bound to lose it at some point

Had a look at getting one of those citizen cards which are apparently accepted as ID but you’ve got to provide 2 referees to get the application through

I don’t know any doctors or solicitors…!

So the club want all tickets for people who cant go for whatever reason last minute (likely to be illness) to go unused rather than being passed on?

I came to London leaving the North East before 10am on Friday. It can't be that unusual to make a weekend of an away day.

I don't take a driving license or passport out of the house.

If someone buys a ticket off Facebook then you should expect to write off the money surely. Not the clubs responsibility to inconvenience others because one buffoon gave £200 to a Facebook scammer

So the ticket office now just piss off genuine fans instead of actually dealing with the Facebook problem….

There won’t be emails anymore. You’ll find out when you get to the turnstile.

That’s how every other club operate. Giving people a heads up defeats the object of the check.

I think the emails were just as part of the introductory process

I’d have no real issue with that if you got to the turnstile, then had to just go to the side to show your ID, get checked off the list and then be brought back to the front of the queue or in a different entrance.

But it seems wrong to expect people to say get to the turnstile at 2:50pm, then have to wait in another queue at the away ticket office, then back into the original queue for the turnstile again
