ID checks for away tickets

I still don't think it's us insiting on the checks, I think it's the away teams policy.

I'm sure Brighton did ID checks on the Mags a few years ago.

It's possibly a way for the home team to implement a process to reduce the likelihood of trouble / reduce daytrippers.

Think this is why they want all digital tickets in the premier League as well as for security.from what I can gather it's harder to tell if a paper ticket with just a qr code on has been used as opposed to an NFC ticket.Might have been dreaming it but I'm sure I've heard this somewhere.

Go down and go to their ticket office. They will sort it if you have ID and haven't been sent the link.

If I got an email like that I’d assume it was spam. The TO have my name, address and membership number. They use two of them in emails to me about the West Ham ticket I bought this week.

Plus, why not get a map to show where the TO is at the Amex.

And another thing, at the bare minimum, you’d expect a definition of valid ID.

I do realise that the TO have a poor record of thinking things through and that parts of the email may have been depersonalised. But all the IT training on cyber fraud I got at work used examples like this as red flags. I’d hope that this would be taken into consideration when talking to BHA’s TO.

Far too much common sense
 
There seems to be a lot of debate about whether the ID checks are right or wrong and how this will stop the "point harvesters" etc etc.

Seems like the reality has bypassed a lot of people.

ID checks are very little to do with making sure tickets are in the hands of people that "deserve to be there". What it is truly about is the Black Market resales.
The Premier League (and certain clubs) don't like the fact that tickets sometimes make their way onto certain resale websites and then get sold at an inflated price.
The reason why they don't like this is not because of wanting to protect the fans either. Its because it pisses them off that they don't get that additional revenue from the inflated prices. It always comes back to "corporate greed" in that if the market shows there is a demand above supply, then the prices could actually be pushed even higher.

We have travelled to Bedford and are going on the train direct to Brighton from here in the morning , I haven’t had an email but if I had I have no ID I literally have my phone and railcard same goes for my son and nephew as they only have their phones

Are the TO or whoever decides these things f***ing idiots they could and should have put this out earlier

Guessing there’s loads passed their tickets on and a few will get caught out tomorrow

There is a reply further down saying Brighton have an anti touting ‘initiative’ tomorrow so not sure if it’s just coincidence that two consecutive away matches have now required checks or if it will be the norm from now on.
