Or they just leave the branches alone and actually target the main culprits? Ie that Facebook page?

ID checks for away tickets

This happened at Man City where a 9 year olds ticket worked and he was inside the ground, the fathers ticket didn't work and as the Man City ticket office advised that the father ticket had been used previously (not possible as far as I can tell as he'd downloaded both tickets from the 2 separate accounts on to his device) they were both advised to go home and weren't able to access the game. It appears to have been a fault with the NFC system and as a result they've decided not to go to either Brighton or Spurs despite having match tickets as they're not prepared to risk spending all that money on travel and accommodation etc to suffer the same 'punishment' as Saturday. The father had all the ID etc and still no help.

That just sounds like a case of total incompetence and I'd be putting a complaint in to the club (to be passed on the Man City). Maybe the kid scanned the adult ticket and went in? Either way should have been sorted.
What if someone's customer number is being used by a branch and other people are using it to go to games? Is that fair on those with 15-20 genuine points who can now never get a ticket? I'm all for helping the branches as much as we can, as they do a great job - but they shouldn't be given any green lights to circumvent the system.

The father scanned the ticket as he had both on his phone. It appears that as NFC can detect multiple tickets at the same time that both tickets were read but only allowed one entry. The country is not equipped for digital imo. At Sunderland we have the QR code so you can scan each ticket individually, however, at Man Utd, Liverpool and Man City it's NFC only and it's no coincidence that there's been issues at all 3 of those games in accessing the gound.

The club hasn't formally communicated anything about ticket ID checks.
Nobody knows what happens if unable to show ID for a ticket chosen for a check. It should be fully transparent what is happening but it isnt and people are finding out little bits from speaking to mates and looking on here. As ever with the ticket office its a little bit of a mess.
9/10 branches aren’t given said people tickets. But is it fair that branches are going to get a lot of extra work for no reason? With most people panicking that they won’t get in,

In that case, how is an adult meant to take their kid to the ground using NFC only tickets, if the kid doesn't have a mobile phone? Completely ridiculous if that's what has happened and Man City have refused to sort it.

I really don't get the issue though - if people are using their own customer number and travelling with the branch - it's a simple step of ensuring that everyone is given their correct ticket - so should be nothing to worry about. It's just a case of ensuring that there is an efficient process in place if tickets are to be randomly checked. e.g. a list of ticket numbers next to names from the club if they are paper tickets.
The issue is that, that it's an intermittent issue and therefore the club (Man City) won't acknowledge any error on their part. People assume that everyone has a smart device.
Aye that’s a worry as I always have mine and the bairns ticket on my phone, thankfully it wasn’t an issue for us on Saturday but going forward it’s something to think about.

They have looked at the airlines who have managed to turn security rules in their favour. For good reason, the name on the ticket must match the passenger who is travelling. In times past a ticket would have been able to be transferred without cost to the passenger whereas now there is an admin fee and fare difference attached. It is money for nothing when the passenger is doing the admin work and digital.
Life or work getting in the way unexpectedly meaning you cant use a ticket means moving a ticket on has always gone on to a degree. Rightly or wrongly. The difference is now clubs want their cut on everything and want to control it.
The best thing clubs can do is go after the resale pages and websites as that is where the blatant touting and reselling is going on. It is obvious who is repeatedly offering their number on the Facebook pages etc.
Sometimes clubs like Man Utd or Man City or FIFA are the worst offenders reselling seats at higher prices than what they are originally listed at but they dont mind that when they are making money themselves...

Few had a chew on getting in. We were ok luckily and had adult and kid on both phones.
This makes my blood boil. Common sense must prevail. They could have checked his ID, they could see that he had two tickets on his phone and one was a childs ticket. FFS some common sense is needed here. I download my three tickets onto my phone, or even if they're paper - if the last of us going through gets stopped how would we know which ticket belongs to each of us?
I could be wrong (because i have no faith in out TO whatsoever) but I suspect that this will eventually all settle down and not be as much of an issue as it appears to be now. Maybe the club will come out with some better, and well written, communication but then again maybe I'll see santa coming down the chimney this year. It feels a bit like the communication about losing your SC if you didn't attend 70% of games or whatever it was. I would have thought that by simply doing this once it has already had the desired effect. In that people now realise, more than before, that they're taking a risk. To be honest I'm going to be anxious at Brighton until we are all in the ground and I have nothing to worry about and a wallet full of ID lol. What they should now do is go after that Facebook page big time. Buy a few tickets, ban a few fans, name and shame them etc etc and secondly they should get their own house in order and look at the tickets that they distribute to Corporate/Players and Staff. Are these all properly accounted for and audited? Who are actually using these tickets?? Before they start having a pop at us this should be sorted first. The overwhelming majority of people on this site and Sunderland supporters generally don't abuse the sytem as far as I'm concerned. We have all had a last minute reason for having a spare ticket and have passed it on the a family member/friend. It's really not that big of a deal. We have all travelled all over the country through thick and thin, and whilst some may have more points than others we are all still fans, and I for one I'd like a little more respect to be shown by the Club towards us. Their communication and handling of such things is a disgrace and makes us all feel like petty criminals whereas the reality is we are the lifeblood of this Club. KLD may think he owns it but this is our Club

Exactly mate. I asked before if the club would have a financial interest in this. I can’t see them putting this extra work in place form an altruistic stance.
