ID checks for away tickets

It’s quite a unique thing on here, but it’s called accepting an argument. A lot in here will choose a side and stick with it regardless- I like to think I am listen to opinions of others and draw conclusions.

As it turns out the overwhelming number of people
On here think that people should be able to do what they want with “their” away ticket, it seems only fair that they shouldn’t risk losing BCPS while doing it.

The issue now is the posters who were advocating freedom and now fighting to keep the restrictive rules.

I believe that's called a flip flop in political terms
Is Brighton sold out? I imagine itll be less popular than many of the others with it being near Christmas... maybe a good opportunity for loyalty points.
Sold out but way too far for many, add in train issues then its a convenient bail out game.

I am unaware how branches distribute tickets, but I would imagine they provide the names to the club of who got them.

If you have acquired a ticket through an official source and attend the game, you have nothing to fear.

If you have acquired a ticket through an official source then passed it on because you had no intention of attending, but every intent of gaining the loyalty point for the Mags away or another high demand fixture, then you deserved to have your points cancelled.
Branches get tickets via the main person logging in purchasing tickets in peoples said names and then dishing them out, problem they wil have is the fact there going to have to start writing down everyone’s name and which ticket is there and then try to distribute it. I get mine via a branch and Iv never had the ticket what it states on my account.
Also there’s going to be a chance that the branch give the wrong ticket to the wrong person by total accident then they get checked and not allowed entry for no fault of there own
Branches are been checked aswell as the lad who runs ours got checked twice in 2 games

In sound bite driven, modern parlance, probably is.

What changed my mind was when I thought about it in relation to outdated legislation like Sunday licensing.

When I was younger, the pubs had to close between 3 and 6 on a Sunday. The rule felt out of date and was essentially unenforced with most pubs down the Old Kent Road just drawing the curtains for a few hours on a Sunday while people carried on drinking.

in the circumstances, it was much better to amend the law to allow what was happening anyway.

Read it again. I was talking about an acquaintance.

Not really having a meltdown- just trying to understand the mysterious logic of the SmB

On one hand, people are telling me that they should be able to do whatever they want with “their” ticket.

On the other hand, the same people are saying that there needs to be a rule banning them from doing this.

I’m hoping someone can explain this to me but it appears people can’t and just resort to personal abuse. Maybe you can help.
I know
Rules are in place for people with no common sense
Folk with common sense don't take all rules as gospel.
You think your mate driving back from the pub pissed is the same as someone watching IPTV.
You're clearly someone who has no common sense so I now know and understand why you're so panicky about someone giving their ticket to their mate when they can't attend a game.

And in that circumstance was it worth getting anxious about People doing it until the law changed ? Nope.
Just chill man

I’m dreading how long it’s going to take me to sort everything out for Brentford as that’s the next paper ticket game. Hopefully the tickets arrive nice and early to give me the opportunity to get them all sorted. I’ve got spreadsheets of all the tickets bought and I’m now going to have to include in that the person who that particular ticket relates to.

If it takes too long or is too stressful I’ll simply call it a day after Brentford and everyone will have to sort their own ticket out. I’ve done this for 10 years + without the slightest issue. If I pack it in I know for a fact plenty of fans that have been exceptionally loyal to the club during the shit times will lose out as they’re not always available to log on at specific times to purchase tickets etc.

Even families may get stung for example husband and wife buy 2 adult tickets and they unfortunately use the wrong ticket wife goes in first ticket works no problem, husbands ticket is declined for an ID check but the ticket he has is in his wife’s name. What then? Does he not get in because of these new rules? As ever there’s been no communication at all about this.

I’m not being stupid here am I? Our ticket office sent out an email about City granted, but was that on the order of City. There hasn’t been any communication from Sunderland that ID checks will be happening going forward has there?

On ticketing details some say ID checks

Also on website theres an article on ticket touting and what the club will be doing and the punishments

I take your point but the problem is “common sense” is subjective.

Plenty on here will tell you that smoking in the bogs at half time is fine and people should calm down about pyros being brought into the stadium while others will see these as major anti social offences.

Until rules are changed, you need an arbiter to decide what “common sense” is and I’m not sure we’d get agreement on who that arbiter was.

Wasn’t worth getting anxious about but because the law was still in place, plod could s raid the odd pub where they had a grudge against the landlord etc. and cause problems.

Changing the law meant they weren’t criminalising people and removed the authorities powers.

I think I'm being 'had' here
Well done sir 👊

The branches received an email this week stating that ID checks will continue. I'm not a branch member but it was posted on here (but lost amongst the ridiculousness of BP) and a few people I know from branches have confirmed it.

I said this and was told by some on here it’s against the rules etc etc

So how would that system work for say me been called away to work Friday midday then have to give it back to the club the club take it back off my account re put it on the system and then try and sell it with enough time for people to still make the match? Won’t happen as ticket office takes 5 working days to turn anything around
With all tickets being digital it should be a largely simple process.

My idea would be there is a cut off point say 24 hours prior to kick off where if you can't make it you return it on the ticketing site. Ticket office have 2/3 hours to process all returns before they all go back on sale at a suitable level, i.e SCH, that would allow them to sell out pretty quickly. It might be a few years away but eventually facial recognition will 100% be the standard for premier league away ends and if the face doesn't match the ticket no entry.

Takes ticket office days to sort out anything

I know someone who has already said this, Brentford is the last game for them, imagine my son goes in first then I try to go in and it rejects what then? 8 year old down and inside Brighton by himself

Common sense would prevail. Either they would allow you in under the circumstances or they would bring your son out of the ground so he is with you.

We are one of the best supported clubs in the country. If you check the rules of other clubs who have away followings like ours - they are all having to implement stricter rules to ensure fairness. It will happen with us eventually IMO. It's just vital that club have proper consultation with fans as to how it works and is managed etc.

Aww wey that’s Arite mate well just travel 8 hours with tickets bought legitimately via a branch from a ticket office to be turned away because Dave in 19 points couldn’t get a ticket and wants everyone to be spot checked 🤦 if I got there and this happened I’d be raging

I’m with a branch but I’m pretty relaxed about all that. Can easily show account to prove a ticket was bought on it.

Yeah but what if the branch gave u a diff ticket? Then the ticket you’re using won’t match the name. I’m with a branch nad can honestly say Iv never had the ticket what’s on my account 😂

Sure that an earlier post said this happened to them at City. Kid had to be brought out and they both missed game.

I'd be raging as well if it happened at Man City...but if it does become a thing in future and it's fully communicated by the club - then anyone travelling anywhere on a ticket not allocated to them would be taking the risk.

If ID checks become strict then the club will have to send out a list to the branch with ticket numbers and names (when they send the tickets) so they are distributed correctly.
