ID checks for away tickets

The great thing here is the club are clearly looking at ways to amend the current system which clearly isn’t working as the current rules are either unworkable or openly flouted.

Disgusting really the self entitlement of some on here and funny how they’ll do anything to distract from the fact that our away ends contain a large proportion of fans who have no right to be standing there.
Conjecture that.

Undoubtedly happens but a ‘large proportion’ is just sensationalist bollocks I’m afraid

Maybe- difficult to put a number on it I have been surprised by how many on here are happy to say they regularly do it and how many others support it.

Thinking more on this, I think that the best option is to just scrap the rule around not being able to transfer tickets and just let the high point holders give their ticket to whoever they want. At least that way we know where we are.

Did you kick up a fuss in league one? In a couple seasons it will be back to normal demand anyway so irrelevant really

This is the official line

“Away tickets are non-transferable, away tickets are issued for the Holder's sole use, and you shall not sell, dispose of, assign, transfer, lend or otherwise deal with the away ticket or benefit of the same to any other person without the prior written consent of the Club. If the ticket is resold or transferred without the prior written consent of the Club, it will become void, and the Holder will be refused entry to or ejected from the Grounds for that Match or any subsequent Matches. A transfer may be authorised by the Club in the Club's absolute discretion and providing that such sale or transfer is in respect of an individual Match and in consideration of no payment or benefit in excess of the face value of a Match Ticket. Such re-sell or transfer will be subject to these Terms and Conditions.“
Ah in that case it's fairly easy then
Pass the ticket on to another Sunderland fan.

Only an idiot would think that it's best to not do this if you no longer can't make the game. Imo of course

You think that in a couple of seasons, people won’t transfer their tickets? Not sure why that would be the case.

Don’t not agree that the rule should be changed so that people with tickets are allowed to give them to whoever they choose?

Change the rules around giving away tickets and allow the holder to give it to whoever they want.

Wow.

When I left Sunderland in 1992, my local MP was Chis Mullin and I was proud of the region I came from, it’s working class principles and the honest, straight, caring attitude of the population.

Sometimes I come on here and get really upset at what has become of the Sunderland I knew- “Sit where you like”, “Stand up if you want”, “My ticket, I’ll do what I want with it”- basically no time or respect for others- none of this would have happened back in the day. The influence of the right wing, a Johnson government and particularly Farage have a lot to answer for.

I really have no interest in any more discourse with you. I told you were were talking shit when you were trying to organise protests to get KLD and Speakman out of the club, I told you you were talking shit when you were spouting rot about Tommy Watson not being a footballer. I’ll just sit tight and wait for you to be proved wrong again.

Had you worked harder at school, you may have better things to boast about than your BCPs.
 What on earth has this got to do with right or left wing politics?

That’s not a very Liberal rule, mind. Sounds more like Totalitarianism.

Do you go to games?

There are loads of rules made as folk have no common sense.

If you have common sense this is a rule to ignore at the moment
This is all I’m saying.

As it’s a rule that is roundly ignored, it’s not fit for purpose so let’s just get rid of it and allow anyone with an away ticket to give it to whoever they like. Then everyone is happy.

Get a bit of reality to it, there’s no way there’s loads of fans who don’t go to games and just build points, in league one and championship there were times I couldn’t make it so would help mates out who live down south that don’t have a season ticket, I didn’t do it to build up points as it didn’t really matter as much then anyway as most games went to low points and a canny few to general sale. I did it a few times a season and majority of others will be in the same boat, we wouldn’t have had sell outs if these fans didn’t go back then and there wad no fuss been made by all the band wagons. The irony is there’s only one game I couldn’t make this season and I helped the same mate out who was loyal in those bleak times, so you could say I’m rewarding loyally. there will be very few buying tickets and not going this season, probably the fewest it’s ever been, and as demand drops you will be back to the same situation when all the moaners will be able to get tickets, but they probably won’t bother for the less glamour games and will kick up a fuss again against the big games like the derby, Liverpool etc.

Wish somebody would have fought me over my Cheltenham away ticket

Exactly, there won’t be a single Sunderland fan that buys to build points and never attend. We’re not man united ffs. Our tickets have never been a closed shop and people are only crying now because they didn’t stick with us when we were shit.

Make the SoL around 4/5 times a season now. In the Championship, was quite happy to sit in the home end at QPR/ Watford/ Luton’s etc.

Have sometimes picked up tickets in the away end on Facebook and via one of the club sponsors (though I’m a long way down the food chain there so save that for bigger games). Also, this year, I’ll be at Arsenal with a mate in the home end and Tottenham too.

I don’t really have a personal agenda, I’m just struggling to understand why the club have a rule that nobody believes in or follows and is not enforced- just scrap the rule then nobody needs to live in fear of ID checks etc.

Let’s just accept that high pointers are allowed to do what they want with their ticket.

So you agree that the current rule regarding not being allowed to transfer tickets should be scrapped?

Strangely, I was at Cheltenham as I have a mate who lives that way and his local is run by a couple of MLFs.

We also agree. Amend the rules to allow people entitled to tickets give them to whoever they want.
