ID checks for away tickets

What we all want, I think, is the fans who have ATTENDED the most away games being given priority acces to the away end. What none of us want is anyone with no points and often no SC taking up a place in the away end that they don’t deserve.
You say this often and it's fair enough but it's also said that those who attended the matches in L1 and the far flung championship games are those that deserve to go now.
What you'll actually find is that at each of those games there'd be a good few hundred who were exiles attending numerous similar matches but were not SC holders but still doing "The hard miles" by hoovering up the tickets that the "low pointers" couldn't give a toss about in those days. Half the games wouldn't have sold out in those days without the hooverers who, without SC's, would use whatever contacts they could to still watch the team.
I fully accept the high pointers getting the first dabs but don't be under the misaprehension that anyone without a SC is a new glory hunter that's not been there through the good old bad old days of L1. For some of us they were the glory days when we could get to see the Lads pretty much when we wanted.

Spot-on. People not willing to go to Fleetwood or Blackpool (there was loads of tickets available for that one) shouldn't be complaining about those who did getting a ticket for Man City or Liverpool, for example. We are all Sunderland fans but some have been more loyal than others. As I say, my aways all but stopped in the second L1 season (after going all over for years) due to my daughter playing football.
I’d love to get some away tickets this year but realise there’s no chance and I don’t deserve one.

What is the club’s motivation for this though? Once a ticket is sold, they get the money back they’ve sent the home club for the tickets. Do they make from the resale site?

I just appears to be creating hassle for themselves and I doubt it is for altruistic purposes.

From what I understand; the checks on Sat were at the request of City. The stuff today I suspect is warning that other clubs could take the same approach.

Something though has to be done about that Facebook page. It’s really f***ing things up and sadly the branches are coming into the crossfire

I know someone that has complained and has zero points. They bizarrely thought that because they bought a SC this season, they could get any away tickets 😂

My season ticket is under my wife’s name because of panic buying at the start of the season.
My sons is an under 22 card and because it wasn’t a normal transaction we kept getting kicked out. They best never stop me as I’m obviously not a Mrs.

You could have got to 30+ games in the last 2 seasons starting with 0 points. You didn't need to go we were league 1. Just the long trips in the Championships, and you'd be getting tickets now.

Yep we got 27 in the last two seasons starting from 2.

Didn't get a ticket for Burnley but managed to get to every once since.

If I'd seriously started in 22/23 I would be pretty close to phase 1 now

Spot on , I know loads of lads who are exiles and have been going to aways for years by people helping them out and like you say our away ends wouldn’t have been full without them

I think anyone who went on that the run of losing to Rotherham 5-1, pompey 4-0, Sheff wed 3-0 and then that Bolton game should be given first dibs to any tickets
Gillingham away, first round FA Cup replay. No shots on target in 120 mins of “football” from us. We only had 300 - 350 there, and assume a fair of that number came from people like me from London.

Any soul who travelled all the way from Sunderland for that shite should have been given a free season ticket!

True they put us in the side bit there was so few

No ID = no ticket unfortunately.
More consequences for the person who bought rhe ticket originally. They could ban you from always and take your loyalty points from you.
They are after the people who are the root cause. Let’s be honest, theres plenty of them.

Out of 3000 away fans , how many do you think are doing it?
I think it will be tens rather than hundreds.
Havent heard anything about anyone getting caught on Saturday.
It's a non story

Agree with this completely.
The "Closed shop brigade" will have you believe it is hundreds mate, however it is not.
Accrington away in the rain always springs to mind was brutal thst but class away day behind the goal

One the wettest times I have been at a football match, the other being Super Kev in the rain at the landfill

I’m not actually sure I’ve seen a single person on this thread say they have never passed on a ticket, never sold a ticket or never allowed someone to use their account to purchase a ticket. Going by this, I’d guess flouting of the rules is pretty common.

Maybe you know loads of people who don’t get on here who abide by the conditions of sale.
