Iancarlo Poveda (now signed)

Roberts had played more than 100 matches including one or two good loan spells, and some not so good. He also didn’t spend his youth bouncing from academy to academy. There are some vague similarities but there are more concerning signs with poveda imo.

Bouncing around academies is harsh. Since 16 he was at one academy. The fact that we're now investigation why a 10 year old left one academy or why a 12 year old went to Barcelona academy is kins of ridiculous

How? Can you name one half decent appearance? As i can't. Ive never known an attacking players touch be so bad.
He hasn't played half as bad as you are making out and he's hardly played. He's supposedly impressed in training I'm not writing him off and neither will the club

Though I hope he is not Clarke’s replacement, his record looks quite similar in the sense he has been loaned here there and everywhere and been somewhat underwhelming.

Clarke was poor at Spurs, QPR, and Stoke. In League One he hardly set the world alight either. I’m not saying this lad will turn out similar but it’s a similar profile signing. Low risk, high potential reward
.. Aye .. Let's completely ignore the fact that Clarke scored twice as many while not playing many games ..

But he needs games to develop . It's a tough one but we have
Clarke
Roberts
Ba
Embo
Mundle
Jewi
Watson and now poveda for two spots .
I think it's fair to say you could take out embo, jewi, Ba (as he showed he isn't a winger last season) and even potentially clarke for that. Plus two for each position is going to be needed as was shown last season for depth.

Good opportunity for Poveda to make his mark and find a home, just like Clarke, Roberts and a few others have done here recently. It's a risk signing him, but one worth taking when the lad obviously has ability.

The way I look at it is this. His injury record seems similar to embleton that masks what he might have been like previously, and it's not like we are getting him as a washed up 20 year old.

If a team like Plymouth signed Embleton, I suspect they'd be quite excited at his potential. We on the other hand haven't been the same since being spoiled by Amad!

Be interesting to see what the thinking with this is - it seems they are trying to have a balance of a youngster, older player and one somewhere in-between for each area of the pitch.

I increasingly think we'll see Watson, Jewi and perhaps Ba or Mundle go out on loan to bolster their experience.
