Hume Hybrid Role


Clearly RLB is a professional coach and understands these things more than most of us do.

But what does he see playing Hume in midfield or on the wing that we all seem to be missing?

Agreed.

Hume is taking the stick but hes been asked to play right wing and drift into centre mid.

Hes a cracking right back. Play him there, or dont play him at all.

Playing him right wing because it is good for nordi to bomb on is bizarre. Nordi continued to do it when talbi came on.

Needs to mix it up. We're wasting Sadiki playing him so deep and its obvious that everytime we get the ball it goes through ballard who as good as hes been us no ball playing centre back.

He needs a midfielder to take it off him, usually xhaka. He has to bring geertruida into that role now

Been subbed before yet he still starts every week
 
Love Hume and he’s good at lots of aspects of the game, but I don’t think he’s standout at anything aside from tenacious tackling, so when he has multiple defensive and attacking responsibilities it’s unsurprising his limitations are exposed - especially against Liverpool. Like most I think the hybrid thing isn’t working enough to persist with, but if he doesn’t start he’s a great versatile sub to have.
 
The solidity just seems completely gone when he's playing this role because he gets caught inbetween positions all the time, so we're being ripped apart right through the middle without Xhaka in there now far too easily.

His technical ability is very lacking for this level too tbh, said it for months now
 
I just don't get it at all. Hume is just all over the place and I can't find anything positive to say about his current role. At one point tonight he was actually in a centre forward position, ahead of Brobbey(!!), but overall he just looked completely lost. Would Dan Neil (who is a proper footballer) really have been any worse in this bizarre roving role?
 
Got stick 3 weeks ago because people let results cloud judgement and we had just beat Palace but it’s a ridiculous concept playing Hume there and im actually disappointed in Regis continuing to play him there
 
It’s becoming really alarming the persisting with Hume on the right wing, it just screams negativity for a start
Stinks of trying to shoehorn him into the side for me
Nothing against Hume but he’s no winger, not at this level
