How come so few people turn up for midweek games?

Looked about 25k there tonight. Empty seats everywhere, front of the North Stand virtually deserted and it all made for a terrible atmosphere. Team was poor but playing in front of that wouldn't have motivated them.

Going back to the Roker Park days, more often than not that was when the old place was at its best. Most of the best atmospheres I remember at Roker Park were night time games. It always felt better under the lights. A bit more magical. Have to say they are horrible now. Absolutely soul destroying again tonight.

Havay man get behind the lads no matter what day we play! Top 6 still very much there for us but everyone has to do their bit!
We have no airport

Its cold

We have no strikers

We are not going up this season

There‘s 4 rather tongue in cheek reasons.

Win games - the crowds improve. It’s that simple.

Looking back through rose tinted specs there mind

I stayed away because of the weather warning. I live in Weardale and don’t have a car great in the snow so I didn’t wanna end up stuck as I’m at work 8am tomorrow.

I have noticed a bit of stick off the mags like. I’d have taken it to heart if a) they didn’t give away 10k free tickets because their crowds were shit and b) they admitted they only get a full house at the minute because they are winning games thanks to a dodgy sovereign state spending fortunes. No Saudi = no crowds. Shameful to brag about it tbh.

Don't have to explain to anyone man, whoever made it tonight deserves a medal, not some cheap shit thread about it

Because they're a ballache if you work during the week, especially if you live away from the area. Same for every club except maybe the London ones where public transport is a breeze

It costs about £50 for an adult and a bairn to attend match by match.

On season cards it's about £25.

You could miss about half the games and still finish "up" on your ticket price if you're with a little un.

We also have season ticket holders who travel up from all over the country, mainly on weekends. Again, they still finish "up" on their ticket and go to loads of away games closer to where they live as a result of having a season ticket.

25k was a cracking crowd in the Roker Park days. People pay for a season ticket as it’s value for money especially for the kids, so even if they miss a couple of games cos it’s a school night, work commitments or it’s fuckin freezing it’s still a good crowd attendance, mind in hind sight I wish I stayed in pub. Thermals on the Xmas card list

I’ve been in Roker park with well under 25k

Try bloody 8,000. And we won. @Swindon On Tour - sorry mate.

Why, the players didn’t bother to turn up and they are paid !
Fair comment mate. I reckon you and I are on the same page in what we expect from the guys wearing the jumper. I can forgive defeats, but NEVER lack of heart or effort. I hope it turns around for you, and you come up SOON

Everyone who turned out tonight deserves a medal. It was freezing, club even put out a warning re weather, many people would have had a long day…. And it was ok TV and we have lost 5 in 8… I could go on but at the end of the day we have get the crowd on their feet and we failed pretty miserably.

Fans fault
We have to be one of the worst home supports in the country for atmosphere ratio to people their mind. 3 out of 4 stands don’t even get animated.
I’m
What did you expect from watching that shite for 90 minutes? Slow, ponderous and predictable
there is this belief that home support can energise players. It’s a theory that we left with timer park sadly
