How come so few people turn up for midweek games?

Quite simply many season ticket holders live outside the North East. Quite simply those fans who like a weekend day on the drink are unable to do that on a midweek drink. And for the many older pensioners who frequent the concession areas, it is too cold.

Yeah probably.

I was. It was nippy. I just wrapped up warm and have lived to tell the tale.
I thought the crowd was good for the buses apparently not being on and how cold it was..a lot of things have been wrong with the club over recent years -the fans isn’t one of them ..not sure why the fans would be anyone’s main thought after witnessing that absolute garbage -the team -manager -set up -yes-they gave no reason for fans to get excited

Looked about 25k there tonight. Empty seats everywhere, front of the North Stand virtually deserted and it all made for a terrible atmosphere. Team was poor but playing in front of that wouldn't have motivated them.

Going back to the Roker Park days, more often than not that was when the old place was at its best. Most of the best atmospheres I remember at Roker Park were night time games. It always felt better under the lights. A bit more magical. Have to say they are horrible now. Absolutely soul destroying again tonight.

Havay man get behind the lads no matter what day we play! Top 6 still very much there for us but everyone has to do their bit!
Xmas is 3 weeks away presents/ stuff to buy.

Buses are off.

A few thousand work shifts , Nissan and the suppliers and other factorys .

Few who travel up for weekend home games from canny far away can't do it mid week.

Strange argument but ...
Many reckon they can't attend home games midweek.
The reality is we don't have 40k loyal fans .
It's far easier to buy a season ticket and miss a few games than piss on buying tickets weekly .
For the record Arcas debut against West ham iirc we had 48k there midweek.
Did you go?

For example, one of my mates works shifts & takes his bairn & fatha to the match. He was working, so couldn't go tonight. As he couldn't go, the others couldn't go.

What's possibly also a factor, is the new etickets make it harder to pass your ticket on if you can't go, and less takers for a cold winter midweek night.
