Housing market Lemmings

can’t really see the old days of high interest rates , govt has huge debts , won’t happen
House prices again can’t really see falling , maybe stagnate for couple year , the stamp duty incentive was daft idea

rates at the moment very competitive. we're almost finished our mortgage but currently pay about 1.7% fixed rate, they're even lower now.

I’m sure you’ve told the story before but if you were so poor did you get a scholarship to public school? And I can’t imagine how dull 3 or 4 years of reading Classics was. Pretty sure there’d be very few state educated types on that course 😀
I got a double Scholarship and then a treble in 6th form
it was never dull, my thesis was on soft porn la
the dichotomy with class in Classics is pretty bad in someplaces, my eldest brother told me he'd break my legs if I applied to Oxbridge after what my sisters went through and still seem to be getting over

Its created a total madness.... we set the ball rolling in February.... thankfully we kept the cash back just in case but its led to numerous sales falling through already

😀 I went for an open day at Newcastle Uni which covered History and Classics departments. Sat through an hour of some dusty professor explaining the course content for Classics which would have scared off anybody sane.

or anybody who doesn't love the subject
I audited lectures I wasn't signed up for and I still go back for holiday lectures and still discuss it daily with my sister

just love it

never had one, would dream of such exotic food as a child but my mother was an excellent cook, baker and patisserie maker so I had to sulk my way through amazing stews and home made meringues and the like... didn't realise I was the lucky one
It was a really tough slog. But looking back, it's what made me the warrior I am today Catherine.

No. He’s a boy done good from Washington, via RGS and Edinburgh Uni, who just dreams of a simple small holding in the South of France and a few streets of terraced housing in Co Durham to earn his keep.

The sort of man who should vote Labour but just can’t.

(No ill will intended at all MT, just reminded me of my favourite ever post of yours )
Well summed up. May I ask what your parents did?
Not in Biddick in the 80s. Findus Crispy Pancakes were though.
Used to get Monkfish for pennies. Funny you reference findus . They make chips. Maybe you can buy some for your other shoulder you boring twat.

I suspect a lot of FTBs will find themselves priced out of the market.
This is the worry, we’d made plans to give the bairn a good start if she’d wanted to go down the owner route. Whether it would’ve been enough is a different story mind. Some kids won’t be that fortunate. I’d love my youth back but I’d hate to be starting out now..

I said it all at the time that the stamp duty holiday looked great on paper at the time but anyone buying a house after the announcement will end up paying for it anyway as they're overpaying. I'm just glad my sale was agreed just prior to the announcement.

We were always planning a move , initially last year but pushed back due to Covid and we were really surprised at how much it had gone up - made almost 30% in 5 years
