Houghton 3rd Team for finals day

Lost the final at a canter, by 10 wickets. The pitch was completely unplayable to the point where we couldn't use our opening bowlers for fear of falling and seriously hurting ourselves. Greenside deserved it mind, but in different conditions we could have put in a better performance.

Some good performances in the 2 games but ultimately fell short in a final that should not have been played. I think Rob has the scorecards.

Unlucky lads. Sounds like a good performance to get to the final. You's should be proud of your efforts this year.

Roll on next season!!

Well done like and cheers for the update. Part of Ibiza was cheering youse on! The semi sounded like a belter.

I didn't see the pitch for the final but I can understand why people would be desperate to play as doing it next year would have been a joke. SMB final at Felling was the same. Shame we couldn't have taken them on in a fair game though as you and Rob have run through a load of teams this year :-(

Me, John and Edd played in both games and I think they would agree that today's was just unplayable, when rob then one of there players went down, I thought that it was just a matter of time before someone got a serious injury. They won fair and square, but it put a bit of a dampner on my season, when your main bowlers have to bowl off five paces and we have to change our tactics. Also want to say that this has been an excellent season and I'm looking forward to Friday night football and winter nets.

The semi-final was a bit of a classic, in-fact I could not even watch the last couple of balls it was that stressful

However the weather totally destroyed the pitch and in the end the final was something we did not want to be in. One of Greenside's bowlers was lucky not to break his bloody neck after slipping on his run up at one stage. If the final was played in better conditions we would have certainly gave them a game at least.

But everybody can be proud of a tremendous season.

well done to greenside, as a team they deserved it and they played the conditions better than us. i would like to say that they are a good set of lads as well. they completely destroyed esh like and were worthy winners. it's been a great season with a lot of plus points. whilst i'm very disappointed the way things went today, we should still be proud of what we have done this year and i hope to see you all at the presentation night. tickets still available £4 a gan.;-)

I would like to say a well done to everyone for a cracking season and an excellent cup run. It was with the final game of this season a wee bit of a let down with the result etc but I think everyone who has played for the 3rds this season deserves a big pat on the back and a snog from Sienna Miller.

Oh and thanks for a great season lads it has been a pleasure playing with you all as I'm not sure how much I'll play for the 3rds next season if at all, there are very few teams around who can match our team spirit and will to win and the general craic so again thanks to you all it will be a big miss to me. We have come so far as a group and our achievements have surpassed any expections I ever had so well done to all.

Edd, send that letter and complain. I've been up all night and my knee now looks like steve bruces face. I will now be off work for a few days and I will be out of pocket and I can't afford to lose £400. I can imagine this post being removed, like some of the others were last night

It's when things like this happen that calls into question playing games in poor conditions. At the end of the day it's only a game and not worth risking life and limb for

I will definitely be writing a letter the more I think about what went on yesterday the worse it gets, you've done your knee I've pulled a tendon in my foot after that fall and I'm sure we will find out later on how butsy's back is as well. Won't say anything more as tom has already abused his moderator power deleting posts.

Was it lashing down while the game was in progress like??

no mate but it was still spitting as we went onto the field. There were also puddles on the pitch and in particular the run up areas and crease when the covers where taken off. The run up areas were basically a mud bath and one of their lads nearly broke his neck running in. The boundary nearest the wall was a swamp pete was first lucky not to hit the wall and then not to get his knee stuck when he fell over in it.

The best team won and full credit again goes to greenside and inparticular one of their batsmen just a shame peoples saftey was badly comprimised yesterday.

It was unbelievable mate, if the game was played any other month it would have been called off. Tom mate I'm disappointed that you have took posts off when you weren't even there to see the conditions. What Edd posted was 100% correct.
