Honeyman to Hull?

You really are a fan of our home grown players eh?

Perhaps you'd like a nice Prem team with a Saudi billionaire to buy some 'class' players for your entertainment.

It's too much effort to get behind one of our own.

None of that makes any sense at all

:lol: Are you suggesting that would be a bad thing?

I'm happy for local youth prospects to get a chance but you can't be sentimental in football, if a player isn't good enough you need to get rid, regardless of where they came from.

Definitely, I think top level football is great 'entertainment, but it's starting to be just the equivalent of a US 'franchise' approach.

Wait until we see the top level equivalent of MK Dons, maybe SAFC should be bought and end up playing at the London stadium after the Hammers have a financial meltdown, etc etc

I really don't get the sentimentality card, why can't we buy and sell to potentially improve our squad?

Honeyman was largely anonymous last season, I often watch individual players for say a 5 minute period of games and he was the most infuriating to watch off the ball - playing in his 10 yard pocket around the centre circle, passing on opponents to the deeper 2 and having no positional sense for the 'no. 10' role. It gave him the license to be lazy when in both the attacking and defensive phase.

people were on here whining we need to show academy players there is a pathway to the first team here as a way to keep them from the clutches of teams in higher leagues..

honeyman not just as a first teamer but as captain was that example..

What example did he set when he never stepped up to take a penalty in a cup final?
Yes becauseat no time last year did our midfield get over in by bigger and stronger players. If he's stayed fit McNair would have been huge for us. Big if like

He would not of stayed fit

That won't happen because we don't have TV markets like over there. It only really matters at lower level where attendance money is a huge percentage of income.

Mate if they’re produced and they’re good enough everyone is happy. If they’re not good enough and are purely around because they’re HG than what’s the point of that. It takes opportunities away from other young players and it means as fans we’re watching absolute shite. Now there’s a path for Embleton to play and the lad will get a lot of support.

This ‘ah must get behind them because they’re HG’ stuff is shite. If they’re good and play well they’ll get the same support as anyone else. If not then they should be shipped out.
