Hemir

I actually saw a couple of moments, apart from the goal, where the lad is moving forward.

Unleash The Beast
Yep. Think there was drilled pass from 09 to him from CB to half way line where he took a lovely touch and spread it to Clarke. I’d like him to use his physicality a bit more - seems to often get beaten by defenders smaller than him when he’s played long balls.
There’s definitely, definitely a player in there. Let’s hope he pushes on and becomes one of the pleasant surprises of the season.

Yes, on his chest, lad needs more confidence, but all the pieces are there, lets hope they click with us

I’d lorefee him to become an unpleasant( on the pitch) radgy, goal scoring bastard surprise myself.

Hemir had an alright pre-season last summer, but failed to kick on.

He's a big, strong lad with some ability. Hopefully, RLB can find a way to get him playing with a bit of fire in his belly. If not, then he probably needs to go back out on loan to a League One/Two side where he'll get game time.
If I was to describe him as anything it wouldn’t be strong mind.

He definitely has potential, although he now really needs to really grab any opportunities.
Let’s hope that strike gives him renewed confidence and it helps him settle. Last season was tough for a few of these players.

@10 Trenches Deep old video here.

The lad definitely has a rocket in his right foot.

I'm certainly not giving up hope on this lad just yet
Watching that back again and his background at the time you can see why we went for him for potential. Mind I was working with a Benfica Portuguese lad at the time of signing him and he he laughed and said Benfica don't sell any youngsters that will make it which was a bit off putting. That video shows, as does yesterdays goal that he has a hell of a bang on him and it's frustrating as looking at the size of him at 6 foot 3 he could be ideal in certain aspects, so i don't mind having him as a n impact sub or loan him out as he still has a lot to learn (Putting a shift in is one, and probably more so at our club with our fans than some others) but I wouldn't be confident starting the season with him though glad he took the goal so well and that will help with his confidence.

The doubt I have is loaning players out who are young and bought from abroad. Imagine been 20 moving to another country to learn, and then they send you to another part of that country (Or another country like Jewi) If that was me personally at 20 I would find difficult and a knock to my confidence as you would want a stable place to settle. Homesickness can play a part as well. I worked abroad for a few weeks and couldn't wait to get back home and that was only in Scotland and twice in Wales! ;) but i think that is why Rigg is happy here at this stage of his career. Family on the doorstep. Everything he knows right here.
Exactly the goal it reminded me of.
"He was on the banks of the river Wear!"

Not sure what people were expecting from a young kid moving to a new country and new league with barely any/zero experience in mens football.

He was given the number 9 and put straight in. Hence people expected some level of competency.

The blame should go on those who left us in a situation where that happened. Realistically the lad probably shouldn't have been seen in a first team shirt last season.

I’m a big lad but soft as shite tbh

Well, that's your fault, ya big tattie! 😆

This is football tho and he has an advantage at being around 6'3. He needs to learn how to use his frame. It doesn't help when there's no experienced striker at the club to learn off. I remember Defoe saying he would help the likes of Maja in training.

I think that's the key here. Be it training or taking the burden of leading the line off them in the first team - the people in charge and fans must now have learnt for this type of buying young players and developing them to work, you have to have enough experience, strength and quality in the first team to then be able to introduce lads like Hemir and Mayenda and let them learn and develop.

They're not teenage sensations. They're young inexperienced, raw kids that generally have been let go as they need a bit of work.
