Hemir

everyone deserves a clean slate at the start of the season.
Especially with a new manager.
The lad is still raw as fuck but not a lot of kids at his age can just pull that casually - and i mean casually - out of the locker.
I'm sorry, but doesn't matter who the opposition is, nobody is saving that rocket.
He's worse than rusyn through and probably mayenda and we need strikers I don't see him getting a chance

if we get Mendy i think that's a good point of reference for him in training.
Think someone as experienced as Mendy would be a huge asset to our young strikers. Highlights suggest really good movement, running the channels, scoring all different ways - open play, set pieces, on the break, high press, even looks to be a really good penalty taker (which we would need should Clarke leave).

Hemir has a few really good attributes. He has a hell of a shot on him and is a big unit. Way too soon to write him off (although some did that 10 months ago). In very brief moments we saw some excellent hold up play last season. If you watched his Benfica showreel, he showed then that he has a rocket of a shot on him - as we've just seen today.

He needs to put some muscle on and learn how to use his sizeable frame to make himself a pain in the arse for defenders.

Whether he has the attitude to do so remains to be seen.

When did we see excellent hold up play and hell of shit based on this goal his first with his feet for us I think

Talent definitely isn't the issue.

Confidence?, homesickness?, language barrier?, desire?

He looked almost embarrassed when he smacked that shot in today, even with his team mates geeing him up.

It's important to remember he's still a bairn, and I hope he kicks on.

20 year old and moving to a new country/culture? We expect too much of young players at times i think. Some will be able to handle it, others will struggle.

We should probably support him instead of getting on his case.
A sensible view which contrasts to the lazy abuse thrown at young players.

He’s the type of striker that generally matures later as well.

I have said this just about every time there’s a thread about Hemir, but Drogba had only scored 15 league goals in his entire career before the season he turned 25. Just to be clear, I’m not saying he’s the next Drogba or anything just that it might take him a bit longer to “click” because of the type of player he is.

I think it was very unfair to give him the No 9 shirt and expecting to be the main man for us when he signed. Far too much pressure, and I don’t think he’s recovered from it since.
