Hemir

Young lad, no senior strikers to learn from and extremely low on confidence. Is it surprising that he doesn't look class?
The coaching team should know these young lads inside out as they work with them every day and its so obvious ( even to joe bloggs in the stand) that they are not ready . Not right and the club shouldnt put them in such a position . Borders on abuse of employees tbh.

I’m still not writing him off yet. He’s young and inexperienced for a striker. That kid at Bournemouth Semenyo was shocking here and in the Prem now.
He wasn't shocking, you could see he was potentially a good player, just playing in a bad team.

No, only played a couple of games didn't he? Done well against Mallorca and everyone went mental. Ryan Noble scored a worldie once against decent opposition and then faded into obscurity. Hemir will be in Portuguese ligue 2 or a lesser team in ligue 1 in a year and a half.

It isn't. But he shouldn't have been given the number 9 shirt and shouldn't be near the team, like anywhere near the squad.

Every head coach so far has remarked on his lack of aerobic fitness and one on how he was surprised at the intensity. He's also not 17 or 18 - he's 20 and although that's still young coming to a foreign country having played no real senior football puts him on the backfoot, because what he desperately needs is senior games, but he looks nowhere near up to it barring the odd 5 or 10 minute cameo. Any longer and you get to see how far off he is.
At 20 year old he needs to be showing more than he is, there is just nothing there. Caicedo recently moved to Chelsea for £115m at 21 year old.

People on here have asked many times to give him a chance.

I know that’s stopped recently. As a reminder he is still yet to score a league goal and we’re in April. Wow.
He's not exactly been missing chance after chance. It'll be interesting to see what they do in the summer with him.

Was he given a five year deal because the club suspected he wouldn’t be ready for at least a couple of years? I could understand it if he was immediately loaned out to a League 2 club in season one, then a League 1 club in season two with him maybe maturing enough to take his place in a championship squad in year three.

But no we start him up front first game of the season!!

If you asked football fans from another country to watch the games he’s played in and told them one player taking part today is actually a fan that’s won a prize to play, I bet 100% would identify Hemir as that player.

If the lad had played the full season I'd say fair enough. While he has looked poor, he's made 20 appearances this season, averaging 23mins game time per game and has started 4 games all season.

I'm not praising anything he's done, because he's done nothing, but no other striker in our squad got the same luxuries as Burstow did this season, and he's quite comfortably out worst striker. He also has made 20 appearances this season but he averages almost double the amount of game time in those 20 with 44mins. He's also had the benefit of three times the amount of starts that Hemir has. He has a better xG than Burstow, which tells you he gets into better positions than Burstow does as a striker, again probably a really weak argument.

It's probably a really pointless argument overall but I'm not sure Hemir has had much of an opportunity this season. A loan is definitely needed for him next season to build confidence if anything.

There's an element of lottery ticket wishing and hoping about these signings.
Speakman is pretty sure he's unearthed an overlooked diamond in the (very deep) rough. The only way to find out if we've won is to give the lad minutes . In Hemir's case it's now clear all we've won is a medium term project and he should be handed over to the development squad until he learns more football.

The development squad have a lot to work on, he still doesn’t look fit to me. He’s 20 but he looks like he could be 17. Look at how Rigg has physically developed this season, Hemir must still be having sugar puffs for breakfast or something. He’s not aggressive enough for this league, he doesn’t lay a mark on defenders, doesn’t jump, doesn’t tackle, no pace, in fact the only thing that he does do is get into good positions, however nothing ever comes of it. Like has already been said it’s almost cruel giving the lad game time.

Close to the truth.
the "Model" appears to be a chancers goldmine. Buy players that have shown something gone off the boil, damaged goods in terms of injury or attitude and play them. Its in the hope 1 or 2 might regain some value and more and be cashed in for profit. Giving young player lots of game time when things are ticking over nicely as undr Mowbray also boosts their value.

A medium term project? He's never going to make it. He's absolutely terrible, he can't even run.
