Hayden Hackney

Never seen a more of Everton player / signing.
My Everton supporting mate reckons they've been after him for at least a season or two. I mentioned the highest he's played is Championship level and he's been the best in a poor team and he retorted that they signed Tim 'Header' Cahill when he'd only ever played in lower leagues. Must be something in the water on Merseyside.

Mind my Ipswich supporting mate reckons they tried to buy him for the season, prior to last year, when they last got promoted and he turned them down, as he thought Burra had a better chance of promotion. He must love his mam's parmos.
The Man Utd link to me looks a lazy one due to Carrick's boro connection. If they're spending £30m on a midfielder, they're getting better than Hayden Hackney.

I can see someone like a Forest looking at him if they know they're going to lose anderson. It could be a cheaper replacement who has potential to play a similar role. Would be a gamble though given he's never kicked a ball in the premier league at 24 year old

I suspect they're trying to get a bidding war going to drive the price up. Clubs are far too clever for that though.

I can see where this is going to go. PL sides will be sitting tight for as long as possible knowing the closer it gets to deadline day the more likely boro are to slash the price. If the window closes and he's still at Boro he will go for nothing - they can't risk that, and everyone else knows it.

I wouldn't be against us joining the race late in the window, i'd take him for £15m ish. That might seem low now, but on deadline day it's £15m or potentially nothing, Boro might just take it
ManU paid £30m for Amad. They surely wouldn't pay the same for an older, less resaleable Hackney surely?
Forest is a good shout mind for the reasons you've outlined.

And Hayden's agent is definitely chummin the water to try and drum up interest. Plus Burra won't want a Dan Neil-esque situation to develop where they won't get any return on their "Jewel in the Crown". Think he's earned his move after staying to try and help them into the PL.

Just even to make up home grown numbers. Surely Burra won't be taking just £10m.
Is contract duration such a deciding factor these days? Them up the road wasted about £55m on Wissa who only had a year left.

Would take him at £10-£15m, decent player who would strengthen the squad depth at a good price. Surely being in Europe and location would give up a leg up on Everton

Palace would be a good destination for him mind. They've made it a bit of a specialty identifying and bringing on board top Championship talent and then helping them make the step up.

He is a proper David Moyes type signing, so let them have him. Definitely not a top 10 standard player.
I am married to a smoggy, all her cousins are season ticket holders at Boro and they are hoping he goes for big money to replace him with a decent upgrade. He apparently gets caught in possession repeatedly Man on,Man on,Man on,oh Hackney reminded me of Dan Neil. We need to stay clear

Boro won't take less than £20M apparently. Maybe with add ons and sell on clauses, somebody will nibble. He seems to want the Everton move but they're baulking at the price. Maybe Forest or Crystal Palace if Anderson/Gibbs-White or Wharton are poached maybe?
