Has Roefs got a sell on clause?

The rumour is the release clause only comes into play if we don't stay up, Wasn't Le Fee's deal which brought him here also on condition of us getting into the prem? They do have good foresight for deals, I suspect down to KLD.

Said it before only big name we will lose is Isidor.

They aren't going to lose Roefs after one season when they have planned for the next five 5. He'll be in those plans as will Xhaka, Sadki and Alderete and we know there's a five year plan because Xhaka said its what brought him here.

Yeah think he was about 77 million to Chelsea then Arsenal picked him up for just 5 million this summer.

Hope we keep him for at least another year but some big sides are desperate for a quality keeper
Yup, not least because we play very deep and his footballing ability is key to the way we play. Elborg looks a very good keeper but he's not as good as Roefs on the deck and that puts us under pressure a bit more when we're try8ng to play it around at the back.

It is worth remembering that Ellborg has very few senior appearances under his belt. Hopefully his experiences will help him grow and improve as a keeper.

Really hoping we can keep him for another season. One of the best in the league already and plenty time to keep getting better.
I actually think he's learning the best way. Being thrown in at the deep end for the Newcastle game must have been daunting if not terrifying for him. Probably the biggest game he's ever played in.

The value of a good keeper should never be underestimated, a crucial position and Roefs has demonstrated that this season.

We have been fortunate with keepers over the years, partly of course down to good planning and coaching, but the car crash of the relegation championship season where we ended up with Lee Camp, should always remind us to be well covered in this area.

I personally would prefer to hold off another year regardless of what money is offered to us. Like others have said, having a top goalkeeper can be worth 5-10 points over a season. We are still in our first season back and i think it would be a risk to sell one of our key players so early while we're yet to fully re-establish ourselves in this league.

He has 4 years left of his deal, the fees being discussed now will still be there in another year as long as he avoids major injury lay offs.

Whilst i acknowledge we will need to sell to keep reinvesting, i'd prefer this summer if we sold some of the bit part players. Isidor, Seelt, Patterson combined could probably get you £30m ish . There's also Adingra who is seemingly doing okay in France who we could recoup some money for.

Let's not jump to earn a nice tidy profit. This summer needs to be driving towards stabilising a competitive mid table squad, selling Roefs imo shouldn't be a part of that.

If someone offers silly money though it would be hard to turn down. Not sure figure i'd put on silly though at this stage. I don't think Ellborg is ready - and the plan will be for Ellborg to be the next in line. I suspect next summer might be a different conversation as he clearly has potential but is raw.

Are some of our fans actively trying to sell our best players again?

It's the only time I can remember us having poor keepers, that and at times during the league one years.

Ellborg has played Leeds away, Brighton home and the visitors away in the Premier league, three tricky games and conceded 2 goals. Yes his kicking needs to improve but he has had a decent start in a new league and a new country, especially considering that first choice defenders have missed those games. Obviously hope Roefs stays but offers in the region of those rumoured are going to be hard to turn down and Melker has done well covering during his injury.

We need to keep him another year. We can afford to. He's only going to get better and tbh, its not like we are an established PL club yet!

If therea a hefty sell on im sure the club would look to see if we could involve a player coming to us if the worst happened. Theres ways around sell on clauses
There must be a sell on clause thus why the selling price is very high. Sunderland need X to re invest in quality to make up for a big hole at the back

My guess is that KLD is thinking big, and this level of money know no longer impresses the club.

We may have ambitions but there are bigger clubs than Sunderland who will be playing in the champions league, pay more and players think about themselves and who can blame them.

Fwiw I think Roefs should stay another year but he's the player most likely to go.
