Harry Kane

The most significant thing in the game to me was Ollie Watkins signaling to Pickford 'give to me' as he once again pumped it to the wings. Not knocking Pickford, he was probably told to do that.
That was the difference between Watkins and Kane.
Seeing Watkins signal that and thinking, maybe it could have been oh so different.
Kane seemed too tired to signal !

Could have played Ivan Toney for first 65 minutes. physically challenge the opponents' defence, wear them down at the very least then sub Watkins with his speed for the last 25 mins. OK it is armchair quarterback stuff, but it is hardly a stretch to think this a much more effective plan than playing a fellow who couldnt even jump and couldn't wear down a budgie

If he's gone to England and lied about his injury, I'd imagine Bayern wouldn't be too happy about it.

If the England staff knew about it, which is more likely, and kept playing him despite what was obvious to anyone with eyes, then that's a sackable offence in my opinion. It's had a direct effect on our chances.

He's past his physical best but still has the scoring touch; that should be him finished for England. Watkins or Toney would have been far better suited against Spain, but Southgate never changes and it's his shit tactics that lost us the match.

Always tires in the latter stages of tournaments.
Yes in 2018 after scoring 6 I think up to 2nd round I thought if he kicks on and scores 10 we could win it, he never scored another goal and his performance deteriorated alarmingly he missed a few big chances in semi, point being that he has failed to step up in knockout games 3 in 12 I think

TBF the way most of the teams play now it's a thankless task,3 goals must be lowest ever for a tournament top scorer.Even the top strikers are starting games pretty much knowing they're not going to get more than 2 or 3 decent chances.

Harry Kane is a very good player, but looks as though he carried an injury all tournament and could hardly move.
This being the case, I don't know what was going through Southgate's daft head to actually pick him.
Agreed, I’d also question the size of kanes ego to be determined to play whilst not fit and deny others the opportunity.

That reminded me of this video 🤣

Somebody did a mock follow up showing how beautiful German sounds compared to other languages. Might have been the same team. I remember the cute Latvian lass.

Edit: found it.
