Harry Kane

Old pals act, has gone on throughout the years but the best spot when it’s time to put loyalty behind what’s best for the team
Yep
What’s alarming is he’s even said post game he named Bellingham and Kane as being fatigued and struggling with it etc
Bellinghams played every minute, Kane has started religiously you have to ask why, he even knowingly admits they struggling
They’ve got players like Watkins, Gordon Eze, pace/energy galore and hardly ever used
They’ve got away with it in few games, against team like Spain you’ll come up short if you aren’t at it
Last ten we were shot physically Spain weren’t

He was taking injections on his back towards the end of the season for Bayern, he was clearly never going to be 100% fit. With the squad we had, there was no need to start the friendlies or group games and then could have reassessed during the knock out.

Obviously some of the blame comes to Southgate, don’t start a player who clearly isn’t fit when you’ve got some 2 back ups including one of the most in form strikers of last season.

Kane needs to take some blame as well. If you know you’re not right then you just need to put your hands up. It’s happened before with him, injured before champions league final, played and was ineffective. Same I think with a league cup final as well.

Should have given Harry and Jude a rest in the easier group games ffs
Seems he wants them to “dust waselves doon” now 🤣

He had the leap of a deep sea diver and the mobility of an oak tree.

But good ol Gareth - who all the players love - kept playing him. It's no wonder they love him when he continues to pick them regardless of injury and form...
He never once won the ball once in the air during an aerial challenge.. He did win two or three when he was stooping down in midfield.

Play him with a quick 9 and he can drop into the 10 and still score plenty inside the box. Southgate on selection could neither stick nor twist so the next bloke is going to have restore some balance. Rice isn't the 6 we need either. Mainoo is probably the closest we have to a Tony Kross type player - whether it's Mainoo or someone else we need someone like Kroos to make the final step.

He also said they’ve lost key players like Henderson and McGuire

He didn’t look fit, but that’s on the manager not to play him. If you ask any top player if they’re fit enough to play in a European final they’ll say yes, to get to the top you need to be selfish.

For me he’s the best English striker bar non and none of the others come close to him when he’s fit.

So he has been playing with an injury and needed injections, now it all makes sense.
The manager has the responsibilty to select the BEST players to do the job for a win.He never built a winning team.Alf Ramsey dropped Jimmy Greaves who was a prolific goal scorer because he had another player in mind who would be a better fit for the team. World Cup win 1966.Kane should have held his hands up to omit himself from the team. Better, fitter players were left out of the starting line ups to accomodate a sick note .Manager to blame, end of. 😡

The most significant thing in the game to me was Ollie Watkins signaling to Pickford 'give to me' as he once again pumped it to the wings. Not knocking Pickford, he was probably told to do that.
That was the difference between Watkins and Kane.
Seeing Watkins signal that and thinking, maybe it could have been oh so different.
