Harry Brook all-rounder

It’s a real shame imo that professional sportsman in a very privileged position can’t behave themselves and act professionally during a series.

In one way it’s better players not been dedicated too and treat like children and been give some free time.

I know in the South African football World Cup players hated the fact Capello had them in some remote hotel as they were bored.

I personally would be very disappointed in the players if I was part of a management team who had trusted the players and given them some freedom and they totally betrayed that trust.

It's even worse that the Brook bouncer incident was the night before a game. A game in which he was captain.

I tend to try to avoid over reactions but it's very hard to not think that he deserved to be stripped of the captaincy and left out of the team in all formats for a while. They clearly haven't done the latter as they wanted him to play in the Ashes.

Yeah agree on both points, night before a game inexcusable tbh.

I think you make a good point, if it wasn’t on the eve of the ashes would they have been a greater punishment

As a general point I think a management structure that gives players trust and freedom is better than one who doesn’t allow them any freedom.

But with that players should repay that trust be acting professionally.

So no sympathy whatsoever with Brook on this at all.

They all are mate barring Root who I love.

I follow England in multiple sports and I’ve never disliked an England team more than this one. Even the football team that consistently embarrassed themselves and the country in the mid to late 2000s didn’t irk me as much as this, although granted there is recency bias.

You never hear about the football and rugby teams behaving like this, yet it seems to be a consistent problem for English cricketers.

If the rugby players or footballers behaved like this there would be absolute hell on.

But in cricket it’s sort of seen as a semi-acceptable part of the culture. Absolutely baffling and so unprofessional. Can only assume class plays a role, but even rugby has put this behind it at the elite level.

Some of the stories from my local rugby club would make your toes curl yet once the players make it professional you rarely hear of the sort of embarrassing crap that seems to dog the England cricket team.

Simply far too physical game at the elite level for anybody to be conditioning themselves so poorly. They have to be extremely dedicated.

Absolute legend Brook

Turned down 2 million quid and a 3 year ban to play for England

Averages 53 in test cricket

Everyone makes mistakes in life

Captained brilliantly in the World Cup

Bright future this lad

Had 6 days at home between October and March

Should be averaging 60+ but has the ego/brain of KP batting ( a tremendous help to play impossible shots but a massive detriment to game awareness)

No reason to lie about the NZ incident, definitely shouldn't be doing either when England Captain.

I'd fear if he got the test job alongside Baz as coach

Are we really going to be overly critical because he's not averaging 60
