Harry Brook all-rounder

I think it's perhaps a little soon for him to take on both 50 and 20 over captaincies, but the options were incredibly sparse.

My left field pick would have been a year of Root whilst Brook shadowed him.

The main man Root had ruled himself out of it. I don't think there was another choice really. Can he play in all 3 formats, captaining 2? Probably. But will he excel at them? Time will tell.

I wish him well though.

I think it’s the right choice

He’s a leader you can just tell

I dunno why Duckett wasn’t mentioned mind

Probably is as upon reflection, the last thing we need is an overworked Root. Still think it's a bit soon for Brook but given the lack of alternatives, I'm not sure where else we could have gone.

He got away with three or four potential catches that flew inches above a fielder or landed between them.

Had an altercation with a bouncer in New Zealand. Excellent behaviour from your white ball captain and Test vice captain.

This team stinks. Such an unlikeable group of players bar one or two.

The lad needs someone to sit him down and ask him what he wants to be. Is he a daft lad who plays some shots and has a decent international career, or does he want to fulfil his potential and be one of the best ever.
At the moment, he just comes across as a knobhead
Spot on a thick knobhead

The fact he's not ended up with Head's numbers with them starts is a disgrace.

Barely any of his dismissals were the opposition getting him out

My first thoughts too, they were a shambles in that series and it's now becoming clear why.
I can remember those in charge playing that tour down, saying it was was gearing up for the Ashes etc. They knew what went down during NZ but still let them crack on in Oz as if its a lads stag do.

I hope Agnew's article gets some traction and those in charge are held to account.

It was never in a million years going to be appropriate warm up for the Ashes and their performances in that series were bordering on embarrassing. They didn't even get close to completing 50 overs in any of their innings. The "relaxed" attitude has continued into Australia and even when they were 2-0 down and people were rightly starting to ask some pretty stern questions, they went on the piss in public. There are people in this group from top to bottom who are either very stupid or very arrogant and unfortunately both applies to some.
